It's a rule set in place so that each team is communicating with local markets. Basically for the Bellichek types. It keeps the NFL in the national spotlight and local papers.

That said, the Jets hold more presses and con calls with media than are actually mandated.

The only people the Jets have inconvenienced by not holding a presser is the media itself. The fans are merely waiting to hear about the new GM. And we're waiting, patiently.
