lets say herm leaves for kc and they give us a 1st rd pick for compensation. that pick would be around 18-22 alng with ours...probly top 5. imagine if we trade the chiefs 1st and our 2nd for a top 5 pick giving s two top picks and allowing us to grap leinart and bush. now thats an infusion of talent on offense
then we can grab a solid tackle in the 3rd and get depth the rest of the way

too bad it wont happen

Yeah you are right it wont happen because teams are not allowed to trade picks for coaches anymore.

it wouldn't be a trade..... it would be compensation for letting herm out of his contract..

I cannot see any team giving up a first for Herm, a third maybe.

BTW a 2nd rounder and a 18th pick is not getting you into the top 5. Not to mention we would not have the cap room to sign both Bush and Leinart.

this is _such_ a pipe dream - as the thread title states.

However if it came down and the Jets ended up with two picks, say pick 8 and pick 19 - these wuold be two premium picks. They wouldn't need to trade up. They could address needs or go BAP. It would be a draft bonanza not seen since the days of the 4 first rounders of 2000.

i wuldnt even want it. You know how much money we would be locking up in two rookies. God no,this could ruin this team for a long time.

A first round pick for Herm???

Are you people serious??? I think you've lost your minds?

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, would pay any sort of compensation for Herm.

The only way Herm becomes a coach someplace else is if the Jets let him out of his contract and another team (KC) has a GM prone to making HORRIBLE decisions.

Herm is a terrible coach. If the world were just, the league would force the Jets to give up their 1st rounder to whatever team rescues them by taking Herm of their hands.

The guy is not, and never was head coaching material. He was never even a coordinator. The Jets braintrust blew it big time by handing over the reigns to a guy who was trying to LEARN ON THE JOB. You CAN"T learn on the job in New York.

If you want to learn on the job, go find a small time college program. The NFL is for professionals. Shame on the Jets front office for putting a nice guy like Herm in a situation he clearly wasn't cut out for.

Herm Edwards is far more valuable than any first round pick Bradway will blow.
