Say what you will about Chad, but if you're a true Jets fan you want nothing but success for this guy because it only makes our team better. Being forced to battle for the starting job in camp could be one of the best things that ever happens to him. My prediction...

2006 - Pennington starts, Ramsey backs up, Clemens holds clipboard
2007 - Pennington starts, Clemens backs up, we'll have a 3rd QB on the roster not named Brooks Bollinger.
I would be happy if Chad could make one season without getting hurt much less two.
229? Fatty fatty! Is he following the Ty Law buffett off season training regime?
Doubt it. That's ten pounds of rocket-launching muscle.
229? Fatty fatty! Is he following the Ty Law buffett off season training regime?
Its the roids! ;)

No but seriously, with the huge training program and all the countless hours he is spending with trainers, i wouldn't tend to think he would be able to put on ten pounds of fat. Also another thing, didn't the article mention that he said he is going to play at his current weight of 229? I kind of think that if he had gained ten pounds of fat that he wouldn't be too likely to mention it, and claim that he's going to stay there. Obviously i don't have a clue what is going on with him, and this is just pure speculation... But if it he did gain ten pounds of mussle since last season than go Chad!! Lets kick some a$$ buddy!

i'd be surprised if he makes the team. his arm will give him away in the preseason. at this point, his best weapon is his mouth.

Encourging words from Pennington and I do hope he is able to return. However, what else did we expect to hear from him? He sure wasn't going to sit there and say "I don't know if I'll be able to play or not".

We'll find out in July what his story is. My gut feeling is that he'll be the opening day starter. Of course, he could end up getting hurt again but if he plays 16 games and does well, more power to him.
Now here is a big IF.......
IF Chad comes back healthy, that changes everything for us.
IF Chad can stay healthy, that changes everything in the AFC East.
IF Chad gets back to 02 form, that would be one of the greatest stories in the history of the franchise.
IF Chad doesn't come back healthy, stay healthy, and get back to 02 form...we are already prepared.

I'm rooting for ya Penny!!!
Get back, and watch how quickly the whole Jets team gets fired up!
For him to say that he wants to get better then his 2002 form, is definitely a good sign and he wouldn't say that, if he didn't feel it was possible.

To bring up all the throws this early is great. And to have another four months of strenghtening tells me he will beat out Ramsey but you never know what they base the competition on. Reading defenses is very import, and making good decisions is up there. I thing pennington brings more intangibles but may have a weaker arm than Ramsey.
"Full go means I'm throwing every route we have in the playbook," the Jets quarterback said last night at a fundraiser in Manhattan. "I feel really good about it."
-5 yard swing pass to the RB

3 yard slant to the WR

5 yard curl to the TE

Those are the only throws PennyBoy can make in an NFL playbook.

Look its all about the rehab and physical therapy, Chad did not have time to fully heal from first surgery...THATS WHY HE GOT HURT..You will see a improved Pennington...Chad will lead this team and be the clear cut starter once again...

I mentioned the Nugent 50 yarder a few times and you told me that it was warnout. You gotta change the bait. The fish aren't biting on five yard throws when he's been throwing for two months and will be ready for TC.

The big question is whether he'll beat out Ramsey. Ramsey throws ropes, right?

Pennington looks like a college QB until you see him in person. He is 230 lbs and 6'3" and muscular. He's a big dude. Not this fragile QB a lot of you guys portray him to be. I think he'll surprise everybody and throw 40 yard ropes.

Alright, so I guess I'll be the one to say it. Since when has Chad EVER been able to make all of the throws?
Lets see where this post is most idiotic:

Well, his May 03 quote was 100% fine. If I'm not mistaken, he was hurt in a preseason game in August 03 so nothing wrong w/ Chad's quote.

His Nov 04 quote was immediately after the game and I don't think he knew right away how severe the shoulder was.

I see absolutely nothing wrong withat September 05 quote other that he and the entire team were not ready. if it were hust him, blame Chad. The whole team? Its more than that.

Essentially SAR, your post is moronic!
My post is not moronic if you have a modicum of sophistication.

The quotes aren't real, nor are the timelines.

The bottom line is that Chad always says he's "ready to go!" and then he disappoints by pulling an egg with wrists and shoulders.

So, for the unsophisticated, my post means:

"Don't trust Chad."

Better?

So what your saying is that Pennington is going to do something that no other QB has ever done in the history of the NFL???

This is good to hear, but eternal optimism is to be expected from Chad. The combination of Chad's warrior mentality and Herm's stupidity was deadly. Now we can take comfort in knowing Mangini will only play Chad IF and WHEN he is indeed ready and the best option.

I wish Chad the best and really hope he can come back. The good news is the Jets have been preparing for the more likely scenario that he can not.
