Two Kazmir's for Tangini's off season moves

Every time Scott Kazmir starts for the Devil Rays, Met fans stomach turns on the trade that gave him to Tampa Bay for Victor Zambrano. Funny thing. Kazmir is the anti-Mangini type player and was traded largely because of 'character' issues and suspect off-the-field behaviors even though he was never arrested for anything.

"Fear also existed about Kazmir’s off-the-field behavior—for a much more serious reason than wrecking Huber’s car, which had been widely reported in the media. Team officials suspected marijuana use, at least early in Kazmir’s minor-league career, and thought he would be ill-suited for the fast pace and temptations of New York".

The best evaluation of players is what they do in actual games, secondary factors such as Bradway's love of athletes or Mangini's love of 'character' may lead Tangini to the same mistakes the Mets made in evaluating Scott Kazmir.

I'm giving Tangini two Kazmir's for the off season. One for passing on Matt Leinart and another for failing to sign John Abraham to a long term contract.

Jim Duquette = Tangini.

For every Scott Kasmir there is a Jason Isringhausen. You win some, you lose some. This your argument is weak.

Isn't spamming the board grounds for banishment?

Yet again, Boob proves to be an babbling troll.

The reason Met pitching coach Rick Peterson wasn't crazy about Kazmir was because his lack of a foundation - he didn't pitch in college. Peterson likes young pitchers with a deep track record. Therefore, Kazmir is the anti-Leinart, because Leinart had a 5 year college career. There were no doubts about Kazmir's pure ability - hard throwing lefty with nasty stuff. There are serious concerns about Matt Leinart's pure ability - soft-tossing lefty who can't move.

Throwing Kazmir into a Jets discussion? Now I KNOW you're getting desperate Bobby Jensen. You lose.

First off your whole argument is wrong...he was traded because the pitching coach didn't think that his body would hold up since he is on the small side for a pitcher. It was really listening to a guy who thought that he could teach a bad pitcher with some giddy up in his fast ball to be a better pitcher...It was ego.

at least tex and even shasta are up front pats fans and quite often really add to the color and mix on the board. you mr. jensen are some kind of weird gloomy prick that loves to stir it up. you probably lead a very lonely life.

Exactly, That's why The Jets drafted who they drafted and you can't use The Jets passed on Leinart equals Kazmir argument because if The Jets didn't like Leinart than why did they attempt to trade up for him? They took Ferguson over Matt because they liked him better.

Who is Tangini's Kazmir? It's not Leinart, I just murdered that crappy notion. "Tangini" can't have a Kazmir situation unless they have a player who is here for a few years.

It's not John Abraham either. Abraham is not some young up and coming player who Tangini was grooming to take over the franchise for the next 10 to 15 years. Tangini just got here. If they develop Clemens and then trade him away for a role player in the middle of the season. Then we can start pointless comparisons between a baseball team and a football team.

In order for you to make idiotic baseball to football comparisons, The Jets have to draft a player high, develop him and then trade him. Your Leinart and Abraham examples don't fit into that category.

That's what they did with their draft. They didn't fall in love with workouts or projections. They took players who were leaders and captains on their teams. How did those players become leaders?.... by what they did on the field.

Tangini is going after players who are leaders and have high football IQ's. Forget about all that party or clubbing stuff. It's based on a players character as a player on the field and in practice and in the meeting rooms. That's it.
