OT: Lastings Milledge

Xavier Nady just had an emergency appendectomy, and is out 4 weeks.

Young Lastings Milledge has just been called up to start while he's out.

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Let's see this kid everyday!!

Wow, not good for Nady, but with all the hype surrounding Lastings, it will be interesting to see the kid play finally. When's Mike Pelfry coming up?

Better hope that he doesn't play too well off the bat or the Mets may trade him for a 33 year old pitcher.

I visit and post and you go on your hiatus and come back in a few days.

But thanks for the info; you gonna be around tonite for the Mets thread someone usually starts. It takes a few spices to make a good stew.

this could be potentially bad for the Mets. His trade value is sky-high right now, unless he plays unbelievably well, he can only diminish his value.

Hope he doesn't get a case of the Melkies

hoes does that make any sense? if he comes up and plays as well as he has in the minors his value will not change....and even if he doesnt play as well his value will still not drop he is still like what .....20?

besides i think he is comming up for 1 month and then going back down.

he is hitting 291 in AAA with over 400 on base% you dont get that much with young players.

Like I said, right now no one knows how he will perform at the Major League level, but everyone's projecting he's going to be a superstar. The only way his value goes up is if he kills it during this month, absolutely tears it up. If he plays above-average, he is expected to. If he plays below-average, his value takes a hit, as unfair and unreasonable as that is. Just the way it works. Like I said with Melky Cabrera - he was killing it in the minors and then he came up and looked like he never played organized ball before in his life!!! Anything can happen, it's very unpredictable how the move to the bigs will affect a player, especially on the big stage of NY.

Then again, the Mets may have no intention of ever trading him, in which case this point is moot. And if that is the case, I agree, it's got to be exciting for Met fans to see this guy finally play!
