Thanks for the info. Sounds like a good deal plus another bat will never hurt. I honestly can't say I know anything about Maclane.

I heard the game today on 660 -- turned it on as Beltran came up to bat in the 5th....

awesome awesome comeback. Shawn Green shows this team is gunning for it.

Exciting times in NY.

Yup, the Mets are the Washington Redskins of baseball right now. Maybe a 1 or 2 year window to win a WS given the age of the pitching staff.

i disagree, i don't think they pick up glavines option, so they're going to look for pitching. w/ maine and pelfrey coming up, they could be good for a while. Possibly add zito into the mix and you've instantly got a talented younger staff.

Everyone talks about Pelfrey. You guys are forgetting about our pitching prospect who was drafted higher and has much more upside and a variety of pitches... PHIL HUMBER!

Sb quick baseball question. How long do they have to trade for players? All season or is there a trade deadline?

Teams may trade only players currently under contract, except those players who have been drafted in the last year. From the end of the previous World Series through July, trades between two or more major league teams may freely occur at any time. In August, trades may only be made after all players in the trade clear waivers or are not on 40-man rosters. Players acquired after August 31 are ineligible for the postseason roster.

OK, I was thinking that team owners could be in bed together so to speak. A crappy team that was out of the playoffs could trade away a good player to a playoff team that needed him but I guess they have that taken care of.
