Maybe this belongs in the 70's thread but in 1975 there were a few days of 66-70 degree days in mid January. I kid you not.

what's more scary is that whether one believes is global warming or not is generally based on their politics.

if your a conservitive or republican, you likely don't believe in global warming. it's somthing made up by left wing wackos such as al gore.

if your a democrat/ liberal you likely do believe that there is something going on.

that's because AVERAGE temps do not equal NORMAL temps. there is no such thing as a NORMAL temperature any time of year.

since we've ONLY been tracking daily temps for 100 years, I find any conclusions being drawn to be extremely dubious, since that planet has been around for millions and millions of years.

BTW- I just read an article that said this warm weather is from an el Nino off the coast of Peru, rather than global warming. Global warming is VERY real, but apparantly not to blame for this particular warm spell.

One more thought...

El Nino- not the first time....

in 1988 El Nino was causing major warming chinook winds in the northwest....I was in Calgary Canada watching the 120 meter team ski jumping during the '88 Winter Olympics (remember Eddie the Eagle??)

....it was 60-degrees and I was wearing a short-sleeved t-shirt watching these guys barrell down a skill hill....

Anywho not going into the "politics" because well it is a moot point I'm not into discussing with with moot people, global warming is a fact and it is only the cause of such warming is something which is subject to debate.
