yeah, and the hours worth of commercials, tv timeouts, and official's replays in an nfl game make football games THAT much more exciting!!!!!

You See His Contract!?!

That contract is absolutely sick.

He's getting $250 million over 5 years which is about 128 million pounds.

That's freaking $50 million a year, the richest per year contract in NORTH AMERICAN SPORTS HISTORY!!!!!

and you belong to a football board. tv makes the game seem so much longer. when your at the game and a team scores a td the other team seems like it kicks off 40 secs later after the pat. tv makes it seem like 2 minutes.

for who he is, and what they expect him to do in terms of exposure, its worth it, at least in theory...beckham isnt just the most popular athlete in the world, he's one of the most popular people in the world...its a shame he's down with scientology though...

that's funny, especially when you consider that he was probably born christian and also has a tattoo on his arm written in hebrew.

Beckham, despite having the misfortune of being born English is still a very fine player, and an absolutely great person. He really is a great guy and will be an excellent ambassador for soccer in the US.

He's not what he once was, but he's far from washed up. OK, so he was no longer a regular starter for Real Madrid. But that's REAL MADRID, people! Only the greatest collection of soccer talent on the planet.

Beckham can still play at a very high level. He could have walked into 95% of Premiership sides, no problem at all. He is still a very, very good player. And his name recognition and off-the-charts marketing potential makes this an absolute slam-dunk for the Galaxy and for MLS.

The only downside is that you will all also get landed with his zero talent, stick-insect of a wife and the endless hype as she attempts (and fails) to "crack" the US as a solo artist in the way she could never crack Europe...because she can't sing.

The way you make a league better is by making the quality of soccer better and getting some names. I can name you 20 players who would be happy to make between 4 to 6 million a year and come over here and play.

I saw it today on the ticker and was surprised, he is a little passed his prime but still one hell of a good player and at worse will bring a lot of attention to the MLS. I'm glad to see it even if he is an English player.

Beckham is not that far past his peak: when he first went to Madrid the fans there were amazed at his ability and his performances. He was the best player in a team of incredible talent. His season tailed off though after he injured himself halfway through the season.

Beckham is one of the best crossers of the ball in the history of the game, and certainly one of the best dead-ball specialists.

Do not expect him to dribble the ball like a Brazilian: he is best getting into wide areas and pinging the ball into the strikers from there.

Red Bulls got 2 designated player spots which likely will bring Ronaldo and Reyna to New York. Reyna is basically a done deal.
