Times 100 Most "Influential People"...gotta love the lib media...

classic case of liberal media idiocy....is it any wonder these liberal rags are near extinction???
Comic Timing: O’Donnell, Cohen make mag list
Envelope-pushers among 100 of Time’s people who shape the world

NEW YORK - Heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio and envelope-pushers Rosie O’Donnell and Sacha Baron Cohen are among the entertainment newsmakers on Time magazine’s list of 100 people who shape the world.

The list of 100 most influential, on newsstands Friday, also includes Queen Elizabeth II, presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, YouTube founders Steve Chen and Chad Hurley, director Martin Scorsese and model Kate Moss. It does not include President Bush.

In a piece she wrote for the magazine, Barbara Walters, the creator of “The View,” had kind words to say about O’Donnell, who announced last week she was leaving the ABC talk show in June because she and the network couldn’t agree on a new contract.

“And so, last September, we began a thrilling roller-coaster ride,” Walters wrote. “We followed Rosie’s passion and compassion, her feuds and fearlessness, her humanity and humor.”

Walters said she and O’Donnell “remain respectful and affectionate friends.”

Roseanne Barr weighed in on Baron Cohen, also known as Borat. “He does offend some people’s sensibilities, but the youth of today are offended if they’re not offended,” she wrote.

Scorsese, who often casts DiCaprio in his films, praised the 32-year-old screen idol/activist as a “true actor.”

“DiCaprio is another guy a lot of us underestimated as a pretty-boy type,” Adi Ignatius, a deputy managing editor at Time, told AP Television News.

The list includes 71 men and 29 women from 27 countries.

Other entertainers making the cut were Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Justin Timberlake, Tyra Banks, Cate Blanchett, America Ferrera, Tina Fey, John Mayer, Brian Williams, Michael J. Fox, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and “American Idol” creator Simon Fuller.

Separately, Time named 14 “power givers” such as Bill and Melinda Gates, Angelina Jolie and Queen Rania al-Abdullah of Jordan.
Marines Smarter Than Rosie
by: Michael P. Tremoglie, May 03, 2007

Recently, the hosts of ABC’s daytime gabfest, The View, scurrilously insulted the American military.

Resident termagant, host Rosie O’Donnell asked, “…Why do people enlist in the Army?” Co-host Ricki Lake replied, “To get an education, and they're poor - and that’s the only way to get one.”

This specious allegation has been refuted several times during the past twenty years. Studies conducted by the Rand Corporation, the Department of Defense and the Heritage Foundation - documented by me in two articles, Rangel was Wrong (2003, Front Page Magazine) and Eugene Debs Syndrome (2004, Accuracy in Academia and 2005, Human Events) - disproved it.

However, this is an ingrained myth of liberal Democrats. For almost a year now, the unofficial spokesperson for these leftist Democrats has been Rosie O’Donnell. She has used her status as host of The View to spout anti-Republican, Bush-bashing, conservative hating, anti-papist diatribes, all with the tacit, and occasionally not-so-tacit approval, of the show’s co-creator, Barbara Walters.

Rosie diatribes included gems such as:

• “…radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America.” (N. B. Radical Christians have not flown airplanes into buildings)

• “America really depends on the battle in the streets of New Orleans that city is still decimated and $303 billion have been spent fighting this (Iraq) war. If, literally, a third of that money was put into Katrina …we wouldn't be in the situation we're in” (N.B. $154 billion was designated for New Orleans)

• “You know what concerns me?...How many Supreme Court judges are Catholic? …Five…How about separation of church and state in America?” (N.B. There is no religious test for any office in the US. Though some Americans attempted to exclude Catholics at one point in American history.)

• “ (someone should) call for the impeachment of George Bush to let the world know - that the nation is not standing behind this President's choices, that the nation, a democracy, feels differently than the man who is leading as if it were a dictatorship, and that we represent this country, he does not lead as a monarch.” (Rosie’s knowledge of civics ranks matches her knowledge of physics. Read the following.)

However, by far, Rosie’s most bizarre comment was that the government was possibly responsible for the collapse of the World Trade Center Seven tower, September 11, 2001.

What is her proof? Apparently, her expertise in metallurgy and physics.

During a March 2007 edition of The View Rosie said, “I do believe that it’s (World Trade Center Seven collapse) the first time in history that fire has ever melted steel. I do believe that it defies physics for the World Trade Center Building Seven, which collapsed in on itself, it is impossible for a building to fall the way it fell without explosives being involved - World Trade Center Seven… (World Trade Centers) One and Two got hit by planes, Seven miraculously the first time in history, steel was melted by fire - it is physically impossible…to say that we don’t know that it imploded, that it was an implosion and a demolition, is beyond ignorant.”

Obviously, Rosie is unfamiliar with steel mills. She surely did not grow up near an oil refinery, as I did, and saw the steel melted by refinery fires.

As if to reinforce Rosie’s absurdity, about a month after she made this pronouncement, there was a tanker crash on an Oakland, California freeway. Fuel from the tanker ignited and burned. The conflagration melted the steel girders of the highway causing it to collapse.

Yet, despite Rosie’s ignorance, liberal Democrat blogs contain statements such as, “It’s about time somebody said what Rosie did,” or “Rosie reached 30 million people with her 9-11 truth.” Liberals think she is a voice of sanity, a beacon of truth, for the hoi polloi.

Personally, I think it unfortunate Rosie is leaving The View. She is good for America. She is the paradigm of the attitudes and beliefs - the ignorance, lies, viciousness, and prejudice - of liberal Democrats.

Liberals actually believe fire cannot melt steel. They believe Bush is a dictator. They believe no federal funds were spent for Katrina. They believe Catholics should be prohibited from government office. They genuinely believe military personnel are poor ignorant rednecks.

It is said that sunlight is the best disinfectant. For this reason, the view (pun intended) Rosie gives the rest of America of how liberal Democrats think is invaluable. This is who they are.

It is still possible she will continue displaying her ignorance. Reports are CBS is interested signing her to a contract.

Perhaps she can do the CBS Evening News. Marines are too smart to watch that program.

I would care about this list if Time was anywhere near one of the 100 most influential news magazines.
