OT: Rangers re-sign Shanahan!

Quote:
The Rangers and Brendan Shanahan are on the verge of completing a one-year deal, with the club seeking league approval on the structure of the bonuses that will be included in the 38-year-old winger's contract, The Post has learned.

It is believed that Shanahan, who told The Post on June 20 he would work with the Blueshirts in order to grant the team as much cap maneuverability as possible, will sign for a base of approximately $2.5M with an additional $1.5-2.5M in readily attainable bonuses.

"Glen [Sather] has been really good in communicating with me while he was dealing with the [Henrik Lundqvist and Sean Avery] arbitration issues," Shanahan told The Post on Saturday. "I said all along I had no desire to test the market or accept other offers

Each to their own. Compared to hockey, every other sport is filled with primidonnas who play the game for the $$. And care more
about showboating and their own agendas than their team and
teammates.
It's a real man's sport, I don't expect you to understand.
Blue collar, baby.
Give blood. Playt Hockey.

Well taking him to arbitration means he will be here next season, set in stone. So that gives us time to sign him long term.

I'm glad to see he is about to sign. We knew it would happen... but its good to know that it definitely will. Now we gotta lock up Lundqvist.

Not the point, adding aging stars is the reason they resemble the yankees, not cause they play in a league where no salary cap exists.

Um....in hockey you can still be effective at 38 years old. Shanny had 29 goals last season.

Does it really count as adding if he was on the team last year????

The Shanny/Drury/Avery Line is ganna have a lot of heart/fight to it...should be VERY entertaining

lol...again, not the point, they had shanny last season, I was simply referring to the additions to the team that they made, they are throwing money around like its going out of style with no regards to team chemistry...which in hockey is the most important thing, Anaheim was not the most talented team last season, but they won. Buffalo had talent all over the ice and failed.

Drury is a winner, great team mate, same for Gomez.
