And when you start getting on a manager for refusing to squeeze, especially with the lineup you guys have, you're just wrong. You don't take the bat out of good hitters hands.

it's not that he gives the starts to the wrong guys...it has more to do with him waiting too long to pull a pitcher. and that's his main fault when it comes to relief pitchers as well, he lets them dig themselves too deep a hole.

and as far as the sqeeze plays go. i'm not sayign he should sqeeze with wright or beltran (although there could come a situation where it wouldn't be a bad idea, but very rarely) but he won't even do it with glavine. he just flat out refuses to do it EVER, and there are situations that call for it, imo.

you got the play mixed up. you are talking about a suicide squeeze....a safety squeeze the runner goes on contact, so unless the baserunner makes a huge baserunning blunder he shouldn't move until the hitter makes contact (and if it's popped up he shoudl obviously stop and head back to third). it's alot less risk involved but you are taking the chance that there could still be a play at the plate. suicide squeeze the runner goes as the pitch is being thrown. obviously there's more risk involved, because if the hitter misses or pops it up the runner will almost assuredly be out. but if he makes any kind of contact there is just about zero chance for a play at the plate. also if the pitch is in the dirt it will depend on if the cather was able to keep it in fornt of him and close on whether or not the runner would be out. i owuld only do a suicide squeeze with a good bunter at the plate. a safety squeeze, especially with a fast runner, is not a bad way to score that tying run late in the game.....and obviously there are other scenarios, but you get my point.
