This is why you knock down stadiums, even the best ones

They just sit there and rot, it's like your grandma sitting in a nursing home and no one visiting her. It comes to a point, where you have to put your dying dog a sleep.

Yuck. Although, it IS Detroit, so it probably blends in with everything else.

What's the plan for current Yankee Stadium when it closes?

Tearing it down, and building park land.

Can't use wrecking balls or demo in NY. Both the Yankees and Mets have to take it apart piece by piece.

Thats kind of sad watching it go piece by piece. I dont care how they get rid of Shea as long as it becomes parking again.

Notice the grass is still cut, and the infield looks nice. Good priorities.

I got this pic from Wiki, taken in Nov. 2007.

The grass is still cut, that's true (and odd, I guess). But there is still trash from concessions in the stands. The last game was in 1999. How is that possible?

i was lucky enough to catch two games there during the last season in 1999.

I've been to 20 major league parks, and that was one of the best to take in a game. the outfiled stands uniquely framed the game and the crowd was literally right ontop of the field.

the insides of the stadium were falling apart, and the neighbor hood was a war zone, but inside, it was beatiful. i much prefer it to the sprawling mess that is Comerica.

The sad truth is that they should really knock down Detroit, not just the stadium.
