Red Sox owner fires back at Hank.

Quote:
Hank Steinbrenner made some news earlier this week when growled to the New York Times that he didn’t believe in the idea of Red Sox Nation.

“What a bunch of (expletive) that is. That was a creation of the Red Sox and ESPN, which is filled with Red Sox fans,” he said.

The Red Sox have jabbed back. According to Boston Herald, Red Sox owner John Henry has given Hammerin’ Hank a membership in Red Sox Nation.

“I’m a big Hank fan,” Henry wrote in an email. “Just to ensure he knows how cool Red Sox Nation is, we officially inducted him as a member of Red Sox Nation and we are sending him his membership card giving him access to an array of options including our newsletter, bumper stickers, pins, Green Monster seats and a hat personally autographed by David Ortiz.”

Now we await for Hank’s response.

Haha, that is pretty funny. Clever... this kind of stuff is great for baseball! Keep it going Hank! Wipe your ass with it! and send it back!

John Herny, class? Same classy guy who called the Yankees the "Evil Empire". Right.. he's all class.

You Mets fans just don't under the rivalry between the Yankees and Red Sox.

I also find it interesting how so many Mets fans like the Red Sox, I wonder why that is....

I was talking about the comments. One was witty, the other was a "frat boy" rip.

Who said I like the Sox?

Henry is a guy who worked for everything he has in life. Hank is a member of the lucky sperm club. You can see how each handles himself now.

I was thinking 'class' and 'ass' personally.

Seriously though, the Yankees have no room to talk about 'Red Sox Nation' when the sell shirts saying 'Yankee Universe'. At least the proceeds from those are going to charity but it's still extremely egotistical and shows that it's nothing more then the Pot calling the Kettle Black.

No... it's part of the rivalry.

Henry calls us the Evil Empire, Hank calls the Red Sox nation bull****, and Henry sends Hank a membership in the mail. Lets see how Hank retaliates.

Like I said in the original post, it's fun, and it's good for baseball.

Henry didn't call the Yanks the Evil Empire. It was Larry Lucchino, who also needs to learn to shut his piehole.

Wiki says both Henry and Lucchino said it.

Fair enough.

That's alot worse than calling an entire fanbase bull****.

The Truth? It's mainly due to the Yanks portion of it's fanbase that is constantly pompous overbearing and can't back down on any debate or topic without somehow placing the Yanks on top. When that fails, the homer automatically provides a history lesson rather than stay current on any topic. If he must the fan will even throw out hat sales statistics. The type of fan who feels he/she has more baseball smarts than anyone because he/she is a Yankee fan and resorts to simply bullying discussions or living on the forum just in case someone should dare critique a member of the pinstripes.

Basically guys like you.
