McCain Sought Endorsement from Reverand who Blaimed Katrina on Gays
Hagee, in 'NYT' This Sunday, Says McCain Sought His Endorsement

By Greg Mitchell

Published: March 20, 2008 5:35 PM ET

NEW YORK In an interview that will appear in this Sunday's New York Times Magazine, controversial televangelist Rev. John Hagee declares, "It's true that [John] McCain's campaign sought my endorsement."

McCain has attempted to distance himself from some of Hagee's views, much as Barack Obama is doing in relation to Rev. Jeremiah Wright. But unlike McCain, Obama has not stood on stage with Wright and accepted his accolades this year.

Interviewed by Deborah Solomon, Hagee refused to discuss his statement that Hurricane Katrina was God's punishment for a gay rights parade in New Orleans, calling it "so far off-base." He claims, "Our church is not hard against the gay people. Our church teaches what the bible teaches, that it is not a righteous lifestyle. But of course we must love even sinners."

He also said that charges that he had bashed the Catholic Church ("false cult system," etc.) have been "grossly mischaracterized....I was referring to those Christians who ignore the Gospels."

Asked what he thinks of Obama, he answers, "He is going to be difficult to beat, because the man is a master of communication. If he were in the ministry, he would make it in the major leagues overnight."

He also denies that he is a strong supporter of Israel because of any coming "Rapture" in the holy land.

Where is the outrage from the Right???

Here are some of the Good Reverands quotes:
All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they are — were recipients of the judgment of God for that. The newspaper carried the story in our local area that was not carried nationally that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came. And the promise of that parade was that it was going to reach a level of sexuality never demonstrated before in any of the other Gay Pride parades. So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing
I'm sure things will surface about Hillary's spiritual leaders with enough of Obama's supporters digging..

That is, if she hasn't disembowled them already....

One of the things I always liked about Hillary is it's clear she doesn't have a spiritual leader she is a clasic self starter.

I think Hillary has whatever is political convenient for her to have. I don't believe there's an honest bone in her body nor an ounce of character in her belly.

Imo, that's what you should be outraged by..

I think you should be outraged by what you think. I think Hillary is tough as nails, smart as they come and a survivor. She is way to liberal for my tastes but as far as national security is concerned I will have no trouble sleeping at night with her in the White House. Nobody is going to roll her over or make her give up ground.

You cannot make someone with no principles "give up ground" on her principles. It's a spurrious argument in the extreme.

You ARE right, she is tough, she is very smart and she is a survivor. But it's not because she is a good leader or person, it's because she is the single most determined and power-hungry person in America, ready able and willing to do whatever it takes (right or wrong) to obtain more power for herself.

Once in power? Well, odds say she'll be no better than her do-nothing scandal-waiting-to-happen husband, who simply reveling in his own greateness more than anything else. I would fully expect her to do the same.

I'm sure you had no toruble sleeping with Bill in office either. See how that worked out, right?

Her husband was a very effective President in his first term. Scandal did do him in and he was not very effective down the stretch. Hillary has no such baggage that I'm aware of but I'm sure you and the rest will make me aware of them.

Where is the outrage from the Left?

Silence is the usual companion of a contrived story.

We've been down this path before you and I, but I fully admit that Clinton was much better then Bush, whose been an unmitigated disaster..

I stand by my assertion that Clinton gets a lot of undue credit because he happened to be the president during the ecom bubble...

If by effective, you mean "did absolutely nothing and ignored absolutely everything", then maybe you're correct.

Hey, if supporting the status quo, the march to socialism and the most power hungry human being since Hitler makes you happy, don't le me **** on your parade. It's not as if the alternatives are so blazingly better, frankly.

The options we have are so bad, I am completely disenfranchsed from my own Govt. It's sad, if it wasn't so pathetic. Hey, at least you found one you can support, right, even if folks like me cannot understand why. At least your supporting something.

I happen to think all three candidates still in are head and shoulders better than both candidates from the last 3 Presidential elections.

In difference to Hillary's power hungryness, any candidate that runs for the Presidency is power hungry and has to want it in a big way. There is no way John McCain or Barrack Obama would put them selves through the grinding humiliation of running for President if they didn't want it and want it badly.

Bill Clinton had multiple publicized affairs while Governor of Arkansas.

Bill Clinton had at least 1 publicized affair while President of the United States.

What's the over and under for affairs he will have as First Husband?

By the way, Hillary's claimed national security "experience" is completely bogus.

She never had a security clearance, never sat in on a national security related meeting while in the White House, never met with a foreign leader in diplomatic rather than social context, and never negotiated a foreign treaty.

Any national security "experience" would solely be related to her years in the Senate which is thoroughly dwarfed by McCain and is not significantly more than Obama's.

Absolutely true.

I'm far from a Hillary fan, but it's pretty plain the only reason her power hungriness gets raised is her sex. Obama and McCain are seeking the most powerful job on earth as well. It's not like either is in it for the money.
