Perez will get his money. 4/56 seems about right.
Keep in mind, this is Carmona being signed through his cheap years. Carmona would make alot more on the open market. |

4/56 is outrageous for Perez. I know pitching is a premium but you're just throwing yourself in a fire committing that much money to a guy who lacks consistency throughout his entire career. I'd give Perez a 3/36 at most. |

If Perez has another good year and hits Free Agency, I could see him signing a Mark Buehrle type contract. |

4/56 seems like a pipe dream if he continues to pitch like he has.
I think he's going to want something like 6/100 eLOT |

You think the Indians will have enough to extend Sabathia? Hope not.

This probably means the Indians have gave up on Sabathia.

But I think Sabathia is going to be looking for Santana money and that will be tough for any smaller market team to cough up. They did pay 93 million in 2001, so I don't think adding payroll is necessairily out of the Question, and they do have some more expireing contracts like Sabathia (9 mil) Byrd (7.5 mil), Blake (3.75 mil), Borowski (4 mil), they could not pick up Carroll (2.5 mil) and Michaels (2.6 mil) contract options. So it's possible they come up with enough cash to keep him. But it'll be tough to have Hafner, Westbrook, and Sabathia's 10+ mill annually contracts all on the books....particuarly in 2-3 years when their young players aren't making <1 Million. On a side note, the Indians really have done a great job locking up their young talent. Sizemore's controlled reasonable through 2012, Peralta through 2011, Martinez through 2010, Carmona for 7 more years. |

Let's just say, the Giants messed up the entire market.
I know the other contracts, Hampton, Brown, Pavano, etc but that 7year/126 killed the entire situation with pitcher contracts. I hope the Mets lock up Maine to Francis/Wainwright type money. |

I don't really agree....Johan Santana was due to be the highest paid pitcher in the league, he more then deserved it. As you touched on the other contracts, Mike Hampton got 121 million dollars and Santana was going to go over that anyways, so how much higher did it really set the bar, 6 million?
