There are a lot of players that really stick out first and foremost, and having the first pick is great luck, but how can I choose any other player than this man?
With the first pick of the Soccer Forum All-Time Draft, pauliec selects: Pele ![]() Raoul Duke is OTC Last edited by JetsFan2012; 05-11-2008 at 11:57 PM. |

RaoulDuke - 2nd overall pick:
Garrincha - Brasil - FW I'm not much into stats and stuff, so I'll just post what I know (or think I know) or specific memories concerning my picks. Obviously, I never saw Garrincha play live, so the following is either truth, lies or urban legend. Garrincha is arguably the best dribbler to have ever played. His legend suffers only for having played in the shadow of the great Pele. His talent was discovered relatively late since he was born with congenital problems (one leg shorter than the other), and was never taken seriously as a prospect because of this. His talent was eventually recognized and went on to be a cornerstone of the great Brazilian team with Pele. He'd drive defenders nuts by dribbling them, turning around, then dribble them again. His legend off the field was also pretty colorful as well: he loved his booze and women. I think he had something like 15 children from 4 different women. He died tragically from his alcoholism and broke. I’m not sure if this is true, but I like to think it to be: Garrincha, his nickname, is a bird who prefers to let itself die rather than be caught. I shouldn’t be picking with my heart, but I wanted him on my team. Here’s a clip of his talent. I love the attitude of the defender at 1:25 LOL. Black Death OTC. |

Have picked Maradona.....don't have access to youtube at the moment, but anyway, he is my pick as the greatest player of all time - the only player to have won a World Cup of his own boot, and went damn close to doing the same in the next World Cup despite carrying injury and being unfit.
A drug cheat at USA 94, but it was only to keep his weight down....if there had of been no drug test he would have claimed another Cup for Argentina. A one-sided player who nevertheless was IMO the great player ever to have laced on a boot. Edit: won't be online again for another 12 hours. Last edited by Soberphobia; 05-12-2008 at 07:28 AM. |
