SI: Best Players By Number
Guess which team has 8 of the top 25?
http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.c...1/25/index.htm I'll start with this one: Roberto Alomar over Wade Boggs? Really? |

in their respective primes wade boggs couldnt shine alomars shoes this comin from an alomar hater Number 16 is a hard call cause Whitey had the better career but at thje there most dominant stages Gooden was untouchable...imagine the career he would of had if he was semi normal |

#57....K-Rod over Santana.
K-Rod is awesome but i think you have to give it to the 2 Time Cy Young winner over the closer. |

They had Boggs in at #26, I would think wearing 2 different numbers would count against him as well. although I'd still have Alomar over him. Prior to his Mets years Alomar was a 1st ballot HOF like Serp said.
PS: Some of the high up numbers are classic. Matt Lawton the best #50? Scott Schoeneweis the best #60? Last edited by Ven0m; 05-09-2008 at 01:32 PM. |

Sorry to disappoint you, Anthony, but Whitey Ford over Dwight Gooden is not a hard call at all.

Since SI called it "Best Baseball Players by Number"......Mariano Rivera gets 42 over Jackie Robinson.

Foxx wore the #2 only 1 year (1935) He wore #3 all the other years. Notice he is the runner-up to Babe Ruth Last edited by Tyler Durden; 05-09-2008 at 02:23 PM. |

Jackie's a top 5 2nd baseman of all time. I'd take that over a closer any day, no matter how dominant that closer was.
