The Joba Transition Has Officially Begun

As per Joe Girardi on the post game. Big news...

Threw 2 innings tonight, mixed in the change. Joe says they're going to start stretching him out to throw more pitches

Fine by me. So, predictions on Joba's first start...?

I say after the All-Star break or right before

I'm curious how exactly the Yankees are going to do this. Are they going to stretch him out completely in the bigs or is he going to get some prep starts in the minors?

I'd look for 1 or 2 starts at SWB before he does it here.

Will be interesting to see if Farnsworth can hold the 8th inning job and allow this to happen. I guess right now Kennedy is the guy who leaves the rotation.

I really thought they'd leave Joba alone and trade for a starter later in the season. I guess Kennedy in their minds will not allow that luxury.

By the time you read this, the third bottle of pills should have dissolved in my stomach.

Does Cashmans future ride on Joba's transition?

I think so.

Long term. You don't throw these guys into the 8th inning yet. You might bring them up, start them in long relief, work their way up to the 7th, then 8th.

Right now, Farnsworth is the guy.

Why not? They have the stuff to do it, especially Mark Melancon.

No Cash told them in the spring HE didn't wanna discuss a extension. Hank may make him the fall guy but it will not be due to Joba. Hank has been pushing for this move.

This was the plan from day 1. Hank isn't forcing anyone to do anything.

If Farnesworth doesn't work out, we always have Hawkins.
