Evans and Murphy.
What are these guys projections? Murphy seems like the one with the bigger upside....but is either one projected as a future potential allstar?

Evans still looks like a deer in the headlights. Murphy looks like a baseball player if you know what I mean.

Evans could potentially be a .280 15 HR guy, but right now I don't see that from him.
Murphy is a great hitter, IMO, but he has yet to find a good position. Maybe he will work out at 2nd who knows. |

Murphy has a very nice bat, and if he can get his glove up to par at 2b, he could be a future all star 2nd baseman. He has 20/20 tools and will hit for average and high OBP. I like Murphy a lot.

Murphy has a very polished bat but looks tenative in the box. Hopefully, he transitions well to the pros.
Evans is an abortion right now. He ****ing fell on his face. |

Ehhhh Evans look like a solid contact hitter who has a patient approach to the plate. He wont be a power hitter or an outstanding defensive player either. But who the hell am I to judge what he can be.
Murphy to me looks like he has a chance to stick around and as a legit bat. He like Evans has a very good eye for a young hitter. Not the quickest hands but he has a compact swing which he can get the barrel on the ball and he has some pop too. He's a corner outfielder, dont see him playing second base. |

Evans to me looks like a platoon player, or a bat off the bench. His inability to hit Major League Righties is a bit troubling, of course it's possible that this might be able to be fixed after spending a couple months in the minors, but we're not allowing him to do so right now.
Murphy if he can stick at a Premium Position (2B?) has a chance to be an All-Star, not a perennial one mind you but a guy that could make 2 or 3 before his career is over. I don't think he'll hit enough to be that guy at either 1B or Corner OF though, solid .280/20 HR/20 SB guy in my mind. |

Murphy is 2 for 6 with 3 walks at this point (late in the Padres game).
That's a .455 OBP. Granted, it's early, but it bodes well to see a raw rookie draw 3 walks his first 9 ABs. And man, could the Mets use a 2B who can hit. Have we EVER had one? |
