Uefa Cup 08-09

Yes it f**king matters and none of you say otherwise!

Here's the link for pots for the first round to be drawn today:

http://www.uefa.com/competitions/uef...id=743492.html

Our possible opponents:

Napoli, Standard Liege, NEC, AC Bellinzona, Honka Espoo

Milan's possible opponents:

FC Zurich, Polytechnica Timisaoura, St.Pat's Athletic, Banik Ostrava, Metalist Khirkiv

PSG's possible oppponents:

Vitoria, Wolfsburg, Kayserispor, Salzburg, Kaunas

I just realised we're in this draw with both Milan and PSG. RD you guys may even come to Turkey in the first round. How did you get in to the UEFA cup? the french cup? IMO you guys drew a very tough group even though you're seeded.

It was through the Ligue Cup. Like in Engalnd we have 2 cups: French Cup, and the Ligue Cup. The latter was created 5-6 years ago for $$$, and open another UEFA slot. It's light years away from being as exciting as the English version.

Anyways, last year we won it. We sucked so bad last year, I actually forgot we'd qualified.

This cup really doesn't get it up for me anymore. I'm afraid you may end up talking to yourself in this thread.

Hasen't stopped me so far...

UEFA General Secretary David Taylor: "No one should say that [UEFA Cup]is a second-rate or second-tier competition. And that includes frenchie jet fans from France"

http://www.uefa.com/competitions/uef...id=743601.html

wise wise man that Mr. Taylor.

the ties have been drawn:

We drew Bellinzona from switzerland.

PSG is coming to Turkey to play Kayserispor

and Milan drew FC Zurich.

You should be able to handle Kayseri RD. They've come on strong the past couple of years have some decent players but only one really worth watching: Mehmet Topuz. He is very versatile, plays right back, right midfield, center midfield and attacking mid field.

Other than that they also signed Solomon Olembe this past off season. You probably remember him eh?

We beat Bellinzona 4-3 on the away leg, don't be fooled by the scoreline it was a really crappy match.

PSG won 2-1 in Turkey.

And yes the UEFA cup still f***ing matters...and will continue to matter until we get eliminated

It's tough group but we drew a great schedule, playing the Ukranians and you guys at home, if we get 7 points in 4 matches - which we should be able to do - we'll be fine.

These injuries we are sustaining are terrible. It went from a match I was excited about, to one I fear.

We are going to have to play Avraam with Zewlakow in the central defense and we're using Patsa and Antzas at midfield.

We did it against Nodjelland and it worked to a degree but Gala is a far better opponent.

Also Stoltidis s 99% out of this game...

Yeeeah I don't think so....

But we also have our own injury problems, all our true right backs are out injured so we're playing a winger at right back (either Sabri or Hasan Şaş) and our first chice center midfielders Mehmet Topal and Tobias Linderoth have been out for months so we have a problem there also.

But I think the quality up front with Baros, Lincoln, Arda and Kewell should be enough if we don't concede more than 2. I'm expecting a very exiting offensive game.

What's up with Gala denying our fans tickets?

I guess they don't want a sea of Red.

At Lazio

At Werder Bremen

At Roma

At Chelsea (After we lost 3-0 to them, might want to FF to around 3 minutes)

At Real Madrid

I don't think there are fans more hardcore than Turks and Greeks.

If I were an international ref, It would be the first thing I check every year once I got my schedule.

They try to but in the end nothing compares to the original

But I wouldn't expect something similaar tonight, cause 1- That was against fener the bane of our existence, 2- we don't use flares that much anymore for the past couple of years we've started doing more hand drawn banners like FDL used to make at Milano.

Some examples:

Bayer leverkusen last year:

Fenerbahçe last year:

Background. This was a Turkish cup match, the last time fener won the cup was in 1982, so the caption under "fener fan fred" reads: "Those who have seen fener win this cup raise your finger"

Bordeaux CL match a couple of years ago

PSV CL match a couple of years ago

and BTW every one of those flags are 2m by 2m

Unfortunately I'm not going tonight and I haven't heard what's planned but I'm expecting something similar.
