Tonight's speeches

wondering if these candidates have written both acceptance and defeat speeches or only acceptance and will wing it if they lose???

Mean Bro, my bet is no one concedes anything tonight, the lawyers will be involved no matter who is declared the winner.

I'd bet Obama only wrote a Victory Speech, and McCain wrote both.

Depends. If Obama holds Pennsylvania and wins any out of Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia or Indiana --all early reporting states that could, in theory, be called reasonably early-- we will absolutely hear a concession and victory speeches shortly after the west-coast polls close.

If McCain doesn't win PA and drops any of those red states I listed, it is over.

Also, a McCain loss in either Ohio or Florida is a game-ender in and of itself. But those states tend to take their sweet time tallying, despite being in the eastern time zone.

Call it a hunch --or maybe wishful thinking :D-- but I think we're going to have a clear winner pretty early tonight.

If Obama wins Virginia and holds Pennsylvania, as every poll suggests he will, its pretty much over. And we should know if that's the case by 9:30 eastern or so at the latest.

If Obama loses Virginia, he probably still wins, but we'll have a reasonably long wait for places like New Mexico and Colorado before he clinches it.

As you know, I completely agree. Hence why I wrote what I did above.

Obama wins this hands down, going away, never in doubt. We'll know early tonight who won, not later.

Shows he's a little smarter than McCain. Why waste time?
