Very cool.

Lotta red on that map. :P Let's start the observations...

1. Look at southern border states (CA, AZ, NM, and especially Texas). Texas largely went McCain but along the border is blue. Why do you think that is?

Cool to look at. Not very surprising.

My hunch is the only perceivable difference from 2004 --if you could see the same map from then-- would be some suburban counties going to blue from red.

Well, thats is what the WashPost Map does too, without making the U.S. look like a modern art sculpture.:P

It shows that in terms of pure geographical area (square miles) the U.S. is clearly and unquestionably dominated by Red.

But in terms of numbers of voters, the bigger Cities overwhelmingly swing deep blue, and by power of their massive populations and blue-dominance, over power the far-less-populated majority of middle-America.

All that, an no crazy modern-art jello-mold play-doh creations, eh?:D

Yes, imagine that. The places where people actually live have more influence in a Democracy.

Go figure.

Wow, in my county (Monmouth) McCain only won by 3%. That's typically a very red part of NJ.

I didn't even vote for him, though, so what can I say? :O

Your empty sarcasm aside, no one (least of all me) claimed it was, or should be, otherwise.

You know Nuu, for a guy on the winning side of this election, you're awful bitter, angry and defensive of late....your man won. Try to enjoy it.

No, I don't.

But if one were feeling spunky, they could retort to your sillyness with "At least I don't want illegals and dead people counted either".

Oh, and  right back acha.

Psssst. Bush didn't run. Hard to believe, I know, but it's true.

With that said, however, it DOES appear that Bill Clinton DID run again.....at least if one looks at the Obama choices thus far. ;)

Well, I'll take you at my word my friend. :D You were right, I went a little bit nutbar-esque post-election, and you rightfully called me on it.

But I still think you've been awful defensive and unhappy for the winning side....

wait whats your point?
Obama won a smaller but much more highly populated area?
Or are you trying to say that since MCCain won a greater area he should have won? No matter the actual popular vote

Who said there was a point?

As with all things Politics, I find these things interesting, and I often share. Folks can do whatever they like with it after that. If you think the map, and the information it relates, has no meaning, thats fine too.

I think the point is that red and blue look pretty together. But a third color mixed in would be even better.
