Knicks Draft Wish List: Hasheem Thabeet
Forget about the stupid 8th seed. Root for the Knicks to lose so they can get the ping pong balls and hopefully land this 7-3 shot blocking and rebounding beast. Pair him up with Lebron, Chris Bosh, Lee, Duhon and Chandler in a couple years and you have a championship caliber squad. Either him or Griffin.

After the game he was exposed by DeJuan Blair, my opinion about him changed a bit.

He's still a raw player but if the Knicks end up drafting him I won't complain since it's so difficult to get a good shot blocking center who can play D and rebound. It's realistic to say he could be a Samuel Dalembert or Tyson Chandler type of player. We really missed out on Brook Lopez this season and there were knocks on him being soft coming out of college.

I have watched every Uconn game this season and I have to say that Thabeet has improved after every game. You have to remember that he is still very raw and new to basketball. He did look overmatched at times, but he still ended up with 5 blocks in the game and over 10 boards. He would be great on the Knicks, especially if the add a Dwayne Wade to play with him.

Please god no!
He is extremely soft down low and awkward on the offensive end. He will get utterly dominated by average centers in the league imo. As stated above, Dejuan Blair (6 inches shorter) showed why this guy doesn't belong in the top 10. Add Hansborough to the overrated list as well. I pray the Knicks get lucky and get the no 2 at least to grab PG Ricky Rubio. If not, Willie Warren PG, Brandon Jennings PG, Eric Maynor PG or James Harden SG/SF are my favorites. If the Knicks look at any big man it should be Cole Aldrich from Kansas or Dejuan Blair (if they sign and trade Lee), who will probably be available in the late 1st. Maybe the Knicks could trade down and grab a 1st for 2010 since they don't have one Last edited by rlucas4137; 04-14-2009 at 05:59 PM. |

I agree with hansborough, he gets most of his stats off of strength and sheer hustle. at the nba level, all of these guys have the strength. i dont feel like he will be horrible though. i think he will produce more like david lee does for the knicks. not huge numbers, but very consistent, productive evenings game in and game out. as for thabeet, although he is new to the game of basketball, he is still competing at this level. the knicks havent had a very solid true big center in the longest time. thabeet could fill that hole, but if not, i think our focus in the draft needs to be a big man |
