Can Potter play the 3-4DE
THat would be his position. He'll need to add around 20 lbs but he definitely has the frame to do so considering how tall he is.

Vikings hoops star J'Nathan Bullock to tackle NFL today

J'Nathan Bullock's support group is in place. Today, the Cleveland State senior will try to put them to good use.

The Vikings' 6-5, 240-pound basketball standout wants to test the pro football waters and has scheduled a "Pro Day" workout on campus for several NFL clubs, including scouts from the Browns.
While basketball is still in his future, Bullock said he wants to give the game he played at Northern High in Flint, Mich., a shot as the NFL draft approaches. Since CSU's season ended March 22 with its second-round NCAA Tournament loss to Arizona, Bullock has been working on his football skills with Pat Adams at the Xpress Sports Training Facility in Valley City, on the Brunswick border.
"This guy has a lot of natural ability," said Adams, whose son, Ryan, plays baseball at CSU. "I think [today] may open some eyes."
Adams, 44, said he has been putting high school and college players through workouts at combines for the past three years. Bullock has been prepping in the vertical and broad jumps; the 40-yard dash; the pro shuttle and three-cone drill.
"In my opinion, he's got basketball quickness, and he's going to be in the top 10 percent of the times for tight ends," said Adams, who played football at Trinity High and has worked as an assistant with his brother, Rick, the head coach at Rocky River High. "In the 40, we are hoping for a 4.65 [seconds]."
Bullock has been catching passes from former John Carroll quarterback Steve Spence, who is JCU's quarterback coach and offensive assistant.
"His work ethic is unbelievable," said Spence, who estimated throwing 100-125 passes to Bullock each day.
Following in the football steps of one-time basketball standouts Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez is obviously a big challenge.
"He absolutely knows he has a golden opportunity," said Spence. "He's done everything he can to constantly be ready
I like this. He was a good player for Cleveland State too.

If he shows he can pick things up, then put him on the practice squad.

Was he good enough that he might get drafted in the NBA as well?
Just curious. . .

Usually what happens is guys like him dont have the NBA body type. He seems like he might be a powerfoward or something but 6'5 is not tall enough for that. Coincidentally people like that have the best body type for TE in the NFL. That is what happened to Gates coming out of Kent State.

Thanks for the update and the link to the udfa signing site.

Andrew Davie and Robert Myers have a real shot to make the active roster. Provided that The Jets don't go the veteran route at TE.

T.J. Conley also has a real shot to compete against Reggie Hodges at punter. I would assume that Conley was a Westhoff reccomendation.
Matt Kroul Iowa 6-4 1/2 278

Strengths: Is a strong wrap-up tackler who punishes ballcarriers. Wants to be in on every play. Is a hard-nosed player who shows intelligence and toughness.

Weaknesses: Has short arms. Lacks strength and size to hold up inside in the NFL. Lacks pass rush moves to be top-flight inside rusher. Is not a great fit for NFL defensive schemes.

Bottom Line: Kroul is an undersized defensive tackle who relies on his intelligence and hustle. Although he's limited at the next level, he'll make it tough for a team to cut him.
Defensive tackles Matt Kroul and Mitch King anchored Iowa football with consistency and stellar play.

Kroul started a school record 50 consecutive games for Iowa. King started 45 games, including the last 30. But with those two players, quantity hardly tells the story. King was named the Big Ten’s defensive lineman of the year and was a second-team All-American. Kroul was named second-team all-Big Ten.

The accolades King and Kroul achieved drift off the page in media guides, but live in the past for Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz. Neither King nor Kroul will ever legally tackle another running back, or sack another quarterback in an Iowa uniform. Their absence has left a void in their defense, but one Ferentz believes has some prospects.

“To replace that kind of production and quality, it’s not that easy,” Ferentz said. “So we’ve got a lot of work to do. And clearly, the guys we’ve got coming back, they’re going to have to elevate their play.”
