Serious poll... Rate 'The Landing Strip' as a fan of the site thus far...

How do you feel about The Strip and its strictly football atmosphere...

Also, if you feel it can be improved, please list what you would like to see done differently, additions you'd like to see implemented, etc...

Cited Example: Trolls hijacking the majority of threads, especially serious ones where we Jet fans are trying to discuss issues about the team and you have your usual suspects of trolls chime in with a comment only meant to garner attention to themselves.

I don't mind having fans of other teams on here, but the same old antics are getting really annoying. Wish the mods would step in and shut them up sometimes.

great but here are my recommended changes

1) forum starting privileges start after 1000 or 2000 posts. Or, even better, only by those who have VIP status which would boost JI revenues and probably significantly reduce the number of threads started by trolls, waterboys etc.

2) banning Patfan TX

(just kidding about 2, really)

been around for a while, and the quality of poster has definitely gone downhill. Coming to this board after a loss is just impossible with all the knee jerk threads and idiots galore trying to justify getting rid of the entire team a player at a time. Also lots of name calling of players/coaches...a true sign of maturity.

overall...not great anymore.

Don't post much but spend a lot of time here reading, learning and laughing. Lots of football knowledge on this board and the Hamper definitely picks up the slack times. I'm happy with the way things are set up now. Even with TX being out of jail.

Some things about it that piss me off: namely the Pats trolls, and even some of the Jet fans around here. I think our mods allow too much to slide in the name of free speech sometimes. Still the best Jets board on the web though. It just could be even better.

Improvement suggestions: As another poster said clamp down on the trolls who seem obsessed with reminding us what it is about our team that sucks and bringing down every thread.
Maybe start a separate forum (JI Venting Forum?) for people who want to ***** and moan after a loss. Or make it a forum purely for all discussion (both positive and negative) about the most recent game.

I had some epic football arguments back in the day with that group of JI posters. Critical thinking lost it's place here long ago. Now "he doesn't make big plays" is considered hard hitting, in depth analysis.

Not sure there was ever a shortage of "zomg sky falling, coaches must die" threads after a loss though. Maybe there was, but Sunday is always a day I make a half ass attempt to skip the forumz.

maybe the mods should consider restriction of new thread creation to the mods. I'm certain that the rest of us morons would be able to find a way to reply to a more fixed number of fewer threads

Banning trolls would be a nice start.

Allowing draft talk during the offseason, I really don't see the point in having a separate dead forum to talk about the only football related news for most of the year.
