Where does the AFC East rank in overall talent?

Can any NFL Division match the overall talent of the AFC East? My first guess would be the AFC South. My AFC East team may not be the best around, it would be interesting if other posters put together an AFC East team also.

What the hell? It's Wednesday, nothing really going on as of right now in the sports world. Keep in mind, players such as Leon and Jenkins cant make the teams, because their out for the season.

Byrd plays safety and is not as good as his pick count indicates. You have too many Jets on the list.

AFC South and NFC East would probably win this little competition.

For some reason, I keep thinking Bryd's a CB and trust me... You try making a list of AFC East players, and watch how many Jets pop up.

As of right now, I feel Jerricho Cotchery is a better talent than an aging Terrell Owens and an overrated Ginn Jr.

Honestly, this Jets team could be the most talented AFC team in the AFC East, it's just the simple fact the Patriots have a future HOF QB running the show, we have a rookie.

As far as the CB position goes... Revis is in a league of his own, but other than that...There is no way Lito Sheppard doesn't make the top 5 with the AFC East CB's in the league right now.

My All AFC East Team would look like this.

QB: Tom Brady

HB: Thomas Jones
HB: Ricky Willliams

FB: Lousaka Polite (Best FB in the league BY FAR. 12/12 on 3rd/4th and short and a nasty blocker.)

WR: Randy Moss
WR: Wes Welker
WR: Terrell Owens

TE: Dustin Keller (This is a pretty bad division for TEs)

LT: Jake Long
LG: Logan Mankins
C: Nick Mangold
RG: Stephen Neal
RT: Vernon Carey

RE: Randy Starks
NT: Vince Wilfork
LE: Shaun Ellis

ROLB: Joey Porter
ILB: David Harris
ILB: Jerod Mayo
LOLB: Calvin Pace

CB: Revis Christ
CB: Vontae Davis
CB: Leigh Bodden

FS: Jarius Byrd
SS: Brandon Meriweather

The D-line looks awesome. Starks has played like a Pro Bowler, while Ellis is one of the elite pass rushers at 3-4 DE. Wilfork is a wall. Other than Revis, the CBs are average, though mah boi Vontae Davis has had his moments.

Good list McGraw, but again, Byrd has NOT been THAT good.

Yeah, but when you're competing against a scrub like Gibril Wilson and a diva like Kerry Rhodes, you don't need to be that good. Byrd has been the brightspot on a bad team. And besides, we gotta throw Bills fans a bone every now and again, right?

That's a very good, objective, non-biased list.

Nicely done.

If I'm coming out with just starters, and not a whole roster, I would have to go...

QB- Brady

RB- Thomas Jones
RB- Ricky Williams

FB- Tony Richardson (He's still the best run blocking FB in the AFC East)

WR- Randy Moss
WR- Braylon Edwards
Slot- Wes Welker

TE- Dustin Keller
TE- Anthony Fasano (Really strong run blocker)

LT- D'Brickashaw Ferguson
LG- Logan Mankins
C- Nick Mangold
RG- Stephen Neal
RT- Jake Long

RDE- Ty Warren
3-4 NT- Vince Wilfork
LDE- Shaun Ellis

ROLB- Calvin Pace
IMLB- Davis Harris
IMLB- Jerod Mayo
LOLB- Joey Porter

CB- Darrelle Revis
CB- Vontae Davis
CB- Lito Sheppard

FS- Kerry Rhodes
SS- Yeremiah Bell

I have Jake Long and Ty Warren playing out of position, but I believe it could work out for the best.

As for Bell... I think he's one of the better SS in the game today, underrated in the same types of ways that Thomas Jones/Shaun Ellis has always been underrated

Dude, even Phins fans will tell you Meriweather is the best safety in the AFCE.

Keller and Fasano would make a great TE tandem. We play a lot of unbalanced line. Fasano ends up playing what looks like RT and holds of OLBs and DEs almost as well as Vernon Carey. Keller's basically a WR and is a matchup nightmare.

I agree with you about putting Long at RT. He's a good pass blocker, but is much better in the run game. Ferguson is basically the opposite.

Kerry Rhodes gets talked about as a top 5 Safety all the time, Meriweather has never even been considered a top 10 talent @ the Safety position.

I'm not even gonna list the #'s that Meriweather put up as a rookie, because the guy never seen the field.

Meriweather was a full time starter last year though, as a 2nd year player. He put up 83 tackles, 9 Pass Deflections, 2 sacks, 2 Forced Fumbles, 4 INT's.

This is his 3rd year in the league, he's on pase to put up 75 tackles, 10 Pass Deflections, 0 sacks, 1 Forced Fumbles, 5 INT's.

You wanna see what Kerry Rhodes did during his rookie season? 105 tackles, 6 pass deflections, 1 sack, 1 Forced Fumble, 1 INT.

Wanna see what Kerry Rhodes did as a 2nd year player? 98 tackles, 13 pass deflections, 5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 4 INT's.

So... With only 3 games left, lets just go off of what he's projected to do during the last 3 games...Then, lets see what Meriweather did during his 1st two years as a starter, compared to what Kerry Rhodes did during his first two years as a player/starter.

Meriweather: 158 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 Forced Fumbles, 9 INT's. 19 pass deflections.

Rhodes: 203 tackles, 6 sacks, 4 Forced Fumbles, 5 INT's. 19 pass deflections.

Kerry Rhodes also followed up with a really strong 3rd year with 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 5 INT's... Something tells me Meriweather wont come close to that type of production next year.

Kerry Rhodes IS a top 5 Safety, Meriweather isn't even top 10 guy.

Take the Pats out of this division, and we are in the bottom 1/3 of the NFL.

On a side note: Just think about how the AFC East would have been over the years with the Colts still an AFC East team.

QB - Brady

RB - Ricky Williams/TJ

FB - Polite

T - D'Brick - Lol @ the Dolphags fan putting Long there.
G - Mankins
C - Mangold
G - Moore/Neal (it's close, and I'll play homer here)
T - Long

WR - Moss
WR - Welker
WR - Cotchery

TE - Keller (Fasano is close though, really like him as a player)

DE - Warren
NT - Wilfork
DE - Starks - Man would I love him and Langford on the Jets.

OLB - Pace
ILB - Harris
ILB - Scott (Only because I'm leaning heavily on '09 and Mayo didn't play much)
OLB - Porter

CB - Revis
CB - Davis
CB - Bodden

S - Merriweather
S - Byrd

We're alright...collectively I think the teams form oe of the better divisions but the difference in the NFL between any non-NFC East division right now is negligible. The AFC South must be fun to watch...

AFC South-

QB- Peyton Manning
RB- Chris Johnson, Joseph Addai, MJD
FB- Ahmad Hall

WR- Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, M. Sims Walker

T.E - Dallas Clark, Owen Daniels

LT- Michael Roos
LG-Amano/Lilja
C- Saturday/Mawae
RG- Jake Scott
RT- David Stewart

DE- Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis, Mario Williams
DT- John Henderson, Eric Foster?

OLB- Keith Bulluck
MLB- Demeco Ryans
OLB- Brian Cushing

CB- Cortland Finnegan, Dunta Robinson, Rashean Mathis

MJD >>>>>>>>>> Addai

I'd take Keiaho on the Colts over Bulluck, and maybe even Tulloch over him.

Griffin over Sanders for me.
