That pass is why Favre is second tier great. There are great QBs like Montana, Marino, Elway, and Unitas and then there are guys like Favre. I can't think of another Hall of Fame QB that has hurt his team in crucial situations as much as Favre has.

Viking fans are devastated. They completely self-destructed yesterday. Although, most would tell you that their loss to Atlanta in the '98 NFCCG was worse.

![]() ![]() Marino=never won a super bowl! Elway=lost his first 3 superbowls A great is a great. Is Montana second tier because he lost in the afc championship game with the chiefs? Is Brady second tier because of his pick against denver, his meltdown against the colts, his disaster against the giants, or the great game he played against the ravens? What about Peyton? Surely he's second tier because of all those times against the pats, and the one time against the steelers. Get off it. You dislike Favre, and that's fine. But a great is a great. |

Elway's Broncos had no business playing for the Super Bowl in some of those seasons. I'm fairly convinced that any competent QB could have led the Vikings to 10-11 wins this season. Last edited by Batmans A Scientist; 01-25-2010 at 03:40 PM. |

The 1998 game probably was worse because 1) they were the best team in football at 15-1 and 2) were playing at home. But yesterday's game hurts because of 1) the way they lost in 1998 (see above ) and 2) If Favre basically falls forward they have a shot to win from 55 yards out with a FG in a dome. You live by the Favre, you DIE BY THE FAVRE! |

I said it before the jets acquired him, I said it while he was here and I'll say it again:
Brett Favre is the most overrated player in NFL history. |
