As I mentioned earlier this morning the Jets decided to restructure Antonio Cromartie’s contract. According to Hutch, the Jets will give Cro $500,000 up front as a “bonus.” This is in light of the fact that Cromartie has a court date coming up this month and is short on money.

The Jets have stepped up, giving Cromartie $500,000 in up-front money (in the form of a bonus) on the final year of a contract that’ll pay him $1.7 million in 2010, according to the NFL Network.

During a conference call with beat reporters on Friday, Cromartie spoke of how he had to clear up his paternity issues before he can report to the start of the offseason program on March 22. He has a court date in California later this month.

It’s good to see the Jets have stepped up and given Cromartie the money. It allows him to clear up his personal issues off the field while establishing a new phase of his life (hopefully). Maybe not,after the bonus to pay off his child support debt is done,cro takes home 1.25 million this year. The man was seriously behind on his child support payments while playing in San Diego,how is he going to adapt that Lifestyle to live in New York? I doubt that he is grateful to the Jets for cleaning up his mess. He has children that he probably has never met that are cutting deeply into his lifestyle. The dude thinks he is a star that deserves that star lifestyle. Cro is a problem that is going to hurt the Jets this season
