I love both those picks...
That's a great draft for us if it goes down like that... We get a stud pass rusher who Rex will undoubtedly turn into our Terrell Suggs and a solid DE with a high ceiling... Last edited by nyctomjetsfan; 04-14-2010 at 01:32 PM. |

jerry hughes has over 28 career sacks
i'll be impressed if any1 can name a single decent NFL prospect he beat for any of those 28 sacks. further more if Mike Tannenbaum comes home after 2 days of the draft with a player from Tcu and another from Arkansas St I'll eat my hat. Maybe he takes 1 mid major... maybe. But not 2. Tanny is all about the football factories... his draft record is plain as day. |

You make a good point on Tannenbaum's draft history. Personally, I'd be very happy with Jerry Hughes, but like you said, we draft from football factories. I still think we're trading up for Earl Thomas, but I'm probably the only one who thinks that. But besides our draft history, what do you think about Hughes as a prospect? the good and the bad |

Anyone worried about Hughes height? I didn't realize that he's just under 6'2". For a 3-4 OLB that is very short, I think of the prototype size to be something like 6'4"/6'5", +270lbs

not at all. you can either get to the qb or you can't. in the end it comes down to the scouts evaluating guys correctly. bryan thomas had a butload of sacks in college and just ain't a sack guy in the pros.

I'm not a big fan of drafting Hughes. I just can't imagine a scenario where he is the best player available.
Round 1 - Terrence Cody Round 2 - Jason Worilds Round 4 - Arthur Jones That is what I am really hoping to see. |

all of a sudden we hate Ohio State? What about Mangold? we hate USC? what about Sanchez? by the way never did I say what I WOULD do... talking about the New York Jets... they have trends and those trends say they love the football factories. we can ignore the trends and hope for a Hughes/Carrington draft... and that's fine... but it's not likely. |

by the way for me personally I like to see these players from smaller schools go to the senior bowl and dominate. Dominique Rodgers Cromartie is probably the best corner I've seen live and he was coming from tennessee state. I was sold on that guy no problem.
I have a problem when the prospect skips the senior bowl for no apparent reason, which Jerry Hughes did, and especially have a problem when that prospect has no film against anyone decent. I mean his film is against terrible players, even his "big" games he is going against bad players. so yes a small school or mid major guy can be great but I want to see it with my own eyes, against good competition. Carrington was at the senior bowl and he was great. So I like him... alot. I'd even like him if they reached for him at 29. but Can any1 come up with a valid excuse why Jerry Hughes felt he didn't have to go to the Senior Bowl? It's not like he's Chris Long. He has size questions, and comes from an not traditional football factory... mid major off the beaten path program. Odrick and Brandon Graham went there and kicked rear. Hughes felt he was bigger than Graham? bigger than Dan Williams? why would he skip it? Last edited by bitonti; 04-14-2010 at 02:57 PM. |

bad: only has the edge rush... not alot of pass rush moves. Doesn't have film against quality opposition Probably a liability against the run. Maybe a pass rush specialist 1 down player in this defense. |
