Type O Negative Frontman Peter Steele Dead @ 48

TYPE O NEGATIVE keyboardist Josh Silver has confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET that the band's frontman, Peter Steele, passed away yesterday (Wednesday, April 14) at the age of 48. No official cause of death has yet been released, but it is believed that Steele died of heart failure.

According to unconfirmed reports, Steele had been ill for days leading up to his death.

Sad day in metal today :(

You know you've hit the big time when BLABBERMOUTH.NET is scooping your death announcement.

Pisser. Type O was one of my favorite bands that almost no one's ever heard of.

Type O always put on a good show. I've seen 'em at small clubs in Port Chester and they almost always did a Halloween show at Toads Place in New Haven.

See what I'm sayin?!

Check out the youtube vid above. Great tune, and a great album. Check it out if you can find it.

Almost surely means the end of Type O. No one could replace that voice.

Another cool thing about Type O is they usually did an off-the-wall cover on each of their albums. Summer Breeze and Cinnamon Girl off the top of my head.

They were never one of my favorites but being a teenager in the 90s I listened to them often. Such a different and unique sound that didn't catch on with the main stream crowd and I think that was their x factor.

Definately a unique sound.

Summer Breeze starts at 1:55. Video has nothing to do with the song, but at least you can hear it.

He sounds just like the guy from Forgetting Sara Marshall who did the Dracula musical with puppets.
