I voted nay, but I would consider trading down to 38 or 39 and taking the Mountain.

Adam Schein:
"One high-powered NFL decision maker told me he is very concerned about Cody's "flabby physique." The picture of a beefy Cody with his shirt off is enough to scare you away. I happen to like Cody a lot as a player, but when you are out of shape, it leads to injuries. And you can't help the club sitting in the tub." |

That'd be the smart pick imo, so yes....unless someone obviously better is there.
If Linval Joseph is a legit 1st round prospect here, then I have no idea how Cody isn't. If the Jets were a modeling agency I'd obviously reconsider. Last edited by SenorGato; 04-16-2010 at 01:00 AM. |

If the top three Safties are gone, or they're simply not looking for a S in round 1, then I say go for it.

He is worth #29 if he can become that true 3-4 NT that teams covet. There is some risk there but if he can become that guy than this would be a solid pick. Is only a two down guy though so do you want to invest a first rounder on a guy playing that few snaps?

Id ask that same NFL Decision maker what Ted Washington looked like with his shirt off, probably wasnt pretty, but i think his play spoke for itself. I worry about Cody's stamina, long term weight issue, and if a 2 down player is worth taking at 29, but his "physique" is part of the reason he is a good player. |

Cody was a mid first round projection(I saw him going as high as 11 to Denver) before the infamous picture, and a slow 40 run at the combine. In other words... when he was on the field playing ball. It's rediculous how a pic, and a slow 40 for a NT could move him into the second round... but I'm thankful, otherwise we'd never even be dicussing Cody @ 29, cause he'd never get there.

Jenkins... even when completely healthy, is only on the field half the game... thats what is expected from a guy that weighs 350+. Unfortunately, that comes with the territory of drafting a guy that size... but in the 3-4 it is also nessesary to get a guy like that.

Unless someone free falls on Thursday Cody is the player I really want. Cody learns behind and spells Big Jenks. Pouha moves to DE.

If he could be successful spelling Jenkins his first year...how sweet would it be to see him in there stuffing the middle on a couple 1st and 2nd down run plays so that Big Jenks could be in on 3rd down and collapse the pocket/go after the qb/open blitzing lanes. Until Rex adjusted the D post jenks it was startling how different the pocket looked on 3rd down when he was out.

I don't hate Cody and I'd be fine with picking him at 29 if a bunch of other players I wanted were all gone at the pick.

i've said it many times and i'll say it again: i would not trade up to get Cody, but if he's there at #29, i wouldn't pass on him either.
