JetsSkins....

Can you actually buy a team of oldtimers that will come together as a team or must a team be built from the draft up?

Discuss.

Yeah, the Jets suck at drafting.

We have a strong core, the vast majority of whom have been drafted. I think we can pull it off.

Not sure... Jets signed 2 "old-timers" this offseason and neither of them are starters, so I guess your question doesn't apply here.

Thanks for playing though

Here is a better question... How many Pats players could start on the Jets... 4 or 5 at the most?

The obvious difference is that the Jets have a core of young, pro bowl--caliber players, guys like Revis, Mangold, Ferguson, Harris, Green, Keller and Cotchery.

The old timers they are bringing in, LT, Taylor, etc., are mostly role players. Cromartie is a No. 2 corner. Holmes is one of three top-linwe receivers, etc...

It's actually not unlike the kinds of moves the Pats made to add guys like Moss, Harrison, Dillon, etc ...

Jets signed ONE older veteran in Jason Taylor, a player still at the top of his game, who is hungry for a championship, and will be used in a pass rushing role as a part-time player, last year as a full-time player, he was the best OLB in Miami.

The Pats signed 15 geriatrics who are all collecting SSN

STFU

Or you can draft 3 or 4 quality starters each year, build a core, fill in the gaps with trades that augment the core, and add to the bench with proven veterans on short contracts. Sounds like a winning formula to me.

Wouldn't that apply more to the Patriots than Jets

Or you can always ask this year's Patskins Gerard Warren, Torry Holt and Alge Crumpler.

ya need to draft guys like Revis, Harris, Greene, Sanchez, Wilson, Mangold, Brick, Keller, etc . and you need to sign great veterans for experience and leadership.

Considering the 8 key players I listed were from the draft, layered with the outstanding FA signings, the Jets have a good blend.

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to point out what outstanding talent the Jets have obtained from the draft.
