Chicken manure for nitrogen....bat guano for blooming, etc. But yeah, drastic measures need to be taken. Im just a city guy at heart, but now I have to worry about all this country folk ****. No wonder the old man cooters that live by me do their growing in a greenhouse. There is usually always something to learn from your elders. |
Come on, just ONE recipe please. :O
Do you grow them from seeds?
LOL. Can you make a beurre blanc? If so, add some chopped chervil once the sauce is done and serve over some delicate fish like sole. |

I just use carrot tops. :D
Although carrot tops resemble a larger, rougher, looking version of chervil, it's nowhere near the same, trust me. Chervil is more related to parsley, with a light anise scent. BTW, the garbage they sell in supermarkets blows donkey dick. There is almost no flavor by the time they get it in stores. Unless you find it fresh picked at a farmer's market or from your own (or someone else's) garden, don't waste your money. Just use a lesser volume of tarragon or a splash of Pastis (I use Ricard). |

I'm using a pelletized fertilizer this year and it really seems to be doing the trick. |

Not much planting in my neck of the woods, sometimes life sucks at 10,000ft. That's snow and we will get more tonight if this system hangs around, currently a balmy 44!

Do you really live in Mendocino?
Yeah, we live in Mendocino now. Its good living, but a big change from the city. Youre more than welcome to come by and offer us your culinary magic. That is the Parducci Vineyard, and the wine tasting is literally about 150 feet from our house. im ashamed to admit i still havent been yet. |

When we lived in Marin, my wife and I spent some time in Mendocino and toured all the Anderson Valley wineries. I loved looking over the cliffs and exploring the shoreline and tide pools. Great food for a small town, too. You gotta get to Parducci. I have enjoyed their wines in the past. |

I am afraid I wouldnt know the proper etiquette, etc. I mean do you just roll in, and say "gimme a cabernet":P Enjoy a glass or two, but nowhere near as versed as you snobs in the wine forum, J/k. Do scary things happen there or something?
There is none. Just go have fun and don't be intimidated. Wineries will always have wines which they are offering for tasting and purchase. Just tell the pourer what you like to drink and/or experiment. In my experience, unless it's a varietal only available at the winery (rare), you'll get a better price at your local wine shop or at Cost Plus, a store which I miss more than you may imagine. Enjoy your time in California. I'm one person who has cursed my return to the East Coast. I really miss the landscape and bounty. |
