K-Rod mightier than Mo
http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/m...ian&id=5299817
Laughable article on ESPNNewyork, saying how K-Rod could go down as a better closer than Rivera.

I'm with Scott above...I saw the thread title and came in here to flame, but I'll refrain...the stupidity of that writer's thought doesn't even warrant an audience.

More quality reporting from ESPNNewYork. With Cimini as their head Jets writer, I guess they're just banking on the ESPN name recognition instead of actual content.

Even as a Mets fan, it's a laughable article.
Although I did find it interesting that Frankie is nearly 200 saves above Mariano's/Hoffman's pace at the same age. If he stays healthy, he could put up a ridiculous save total when it's all said and done. But having the most saves doesn't make you the best closer. |

someone needs to tell me how a 28 year old with no arm/shoulder issues goes from throwing 96 to throwing 91-92...too many benitez flashbacks when they bring him in.

Most pitchers seem to peak in velocity at a young age, and gradually lose it from there. Some faster then others, K-Rod's violent mechanics probably don't help his cause much.
With that said though, with a plus changeup and a plus breaking pitch, Frankie would probably get outs throwing 88. Lost in the "close calls" is that Frankie is actually posting one of his best seasons by K/BB standards. Last edited by Ven0m; 06-19-2010 at 01:17 PM. |

Rivera didn't become a closer until the age of 27.

What a joke. Some people would say or do anything for 15 minutes of fame.
