Swisher doing HR derby

Couldn't get away from no Yankees, ahh.... His swing has been so much better this year, hes hitting over .300, hopefully he doesn't go back to a .240 hitter...

The Yankees are a tad anxious as well. Long said that Swisher guaranteed him he will not change his swing.

"He promised he won't add on," Long said.

Does Long believe him?

"Do you believe half the stuff he comes up with?" Long said, laughing.

Swisher will join an American League field that includes Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera, Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz and Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Vernon Wells.

Young will be with Matt Holliday, Corey Hart and Hanley Ramirez for the NL.

Long isn't betting against Swisher.

"It seems like everything he has touched has turned to gold," Long said. "So maybe he'll win the thing."

Swisher is certainly hoping, as he thinks the spotlight may shine even brighter for the Derby than the actual game.

"It is like the slam dunk contest," Swisher said.

Girardi wants him to be careful, but gave him the green light.

"I said, 'Go ahead, have fun with it,'" Girardi said.

Its no big deal. Lets remember that Tino Martinez won the HR Derby in 1997. That season, Tino hit .296 with 44 HRs and 141 RBI. So lets all wish swish luck in the derby
