NY Daily news now reporting that he has passed away. WFAN has said the Yankees will release a statement very shortly but it is not looking good.

Very sad news. RIP Mr. Steinbrenner. You will be missed. I'm glad we got him one last championship before he passed away.

Like many, Mr. Steinbrenner is the only owner I have ever known for my favorite baseball team. I want to thank him for always doing everything he could to field a competitive team (unlike many of his colleagues). Thank you for the wonderful memories Boss.

Once again, and for the last time, he steals the headlines away from Bob Shephard, and the entire AllStar game.
