After moving in, and my folks left, I organized a touch football game with anyone from my hall who was interested. We had a great time, bonded during the game and beers afterwards (sorry for you, drinking age was 18 back in 1975), and most of them became my best buddies for the remainder of my college years. I would suggest finding a similar way (sports, music, or whatever interests you) to break the ice and meet people.
Also, and I cannot stress this next point any stronger: Meet lots of women, but don't lock yourself into a long term relationship. You are young and need to interact with many females. There is plenty of time for steady girlfriends and marriage later on. I am happy for you more than you can imagine. I envy your youth and the excitement of embarking on this new chapter in your life. Set aside time to study every day away from your dorm (I went to the library daily after my last class); get your work done early so you can hang out and have fun and won't need to worry about cramming at the last minute; take advantage of what campus life offers you like music, art, discussion, etc; and really try to savor every moment of your four years. It's over in a flash, and guys like me would do just about anything to change places with you. Best of luck. |

Standard ice-breaker with each and every chick that you meet:
"What's your major?" And then check to make sure she's not a minor. |

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

any advice from you older posters? im gonna be up at UConn so ill be representing the Jets and Yankees proudly with all the Patsie and Sux fans in upstate CT[/QUOTE] sit up front in class. less distractions and allow you to focus. Prof's don't care if you don't pay attention, etc., they got their dough. YOU (or your parents, or Uncle Sam) are paying for this education, don't let the Prof's cheat you out of it! Oh, and stay away from JW's neice or we'll cut yer balz off. |
