Pedroia likely done for the season
According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, second baseman Dustin Pedroia (foot) is likely to be shut down for the rest of the season.
Pedroia attempted to come back early from a fractured foot but was unable to play through the lingering soreness. The Red Sox still have aspirations of clinching the American League Wild Card this season, but they are well aware of the second baseman's long-term value to the club.
