Anyway, after thinking about it, regarding the trash disparity, I don't think you can make any reliable conclusions based on the two videos. Here's why:

1. The first video is of a guy walking down the sidewalk for a minute, clearly it's not at the main area where everyone was gathered. Maybe there wasn't much garbage at the actual rally place, but I doubt it was pristine.

2. The Inauguration was an all day event over multiple days, and when it was all over, it was well after dark. People had to eat if they stayed the whole day, there was a parade, there was a concert, and apparently there weren't enough garbage cans. The Glenn Beck rally was scheduled as 4 hours from 10am-1pm. People didn't have to eat there if they stayed the whole 4 hours and there probably was an adequate amount of disposal options.

3. On top of that, there were 3 times more people there, who were there for much longer, having to actually consume while they were there.

4a. And the real difference, imo, there were vendors selling all kinds of Obama junk at the inauguration. Maybe there were some people selling American Flags or pins or something at the Beck rally, or maybe they weren't selling anything, I don't know; but a lot of that Obama stuff that people were selling found it's way in the trash.

In order to litter some trash, you have to have something to throw away. Three times as many people had a lot more to throw away. Add that to whatever difference between age/philosophy/life style/etc. that Warfish was talking about and you get what you got. I don't think it's that big a difference though, 100 tons for 2 million people is 1.6 ounces of trash per person. The average American produces a lot more trash per day than 1.6 ounces.

I really thought the Tea Party was going to stage some electoral upsets this year. But as November apporaoches...the lack of touch with reality starts to seep out.

Garbage clean up and 1940's STD experiments in Central America. OBAMA BAD!! MAKE HULK ANGRY!!! We have posts here broken down into bullet points about the clean up after a rally......but have never had a post like that for, I dunno...one of the Tea Party candidates political stances.
