who caved? nm. just read it. Cablevision caved. Good for Fox's pocketbooks. Bad for Cablevision. Which is essentially, bad for us, cuz the additional fee is gonna mean increased bills we gotta pay : (

looks like cablevision...
Fox, Cablevision Reach Agreement, End Blackout

By GEORGE STAHL
NEW YORK -- Cablevision Systems Corp. and Fox Networks reached an agreement ending a two-week stalemate marked by heated rhetoric, legal actions and missed sporting events.

The animosity continued even after an agreement was reached as Cablevison complained about agreeing to pay Fox "an unfair price" and about "the absence of any meaningful action" from the Federal Communications Commission.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Fox is owned by News Corp., which also owns Dow Jones & Co., publisher of this newswire and The Wall Street Journal.

"Cablevision has agreed to pay Fox an unfair price for multiple channels of its programming including many in which our customers have little or no interest," the cable operator said in an emailed statement. "Cablevision conceded because it does not think its customers should any longer be denied the Fox programs they wish to see."

The agreement covers Fox 5 and My9 in New York, Fox 29 in Philadelphia and the cable channels Fox Deportes, Fox Business Network, and Nat Geo Wild.

The signals for all stations and cable channels were restored Saturday before the first pitch of World Series Game 3 on Fox. Cablevision's 3 million mostly New York area households already had missed the first two games of the series, the National League Championship Series and a New York Giants football game.
i'm sure the commercials run by FIOS the past week helped force the issue for cablevision...

Sounds like Cablevision, they are complaining about the unfair deal already.

Honestly, I hate the Dolans and cablevision but I could not find one ounce of evidence that Fox wasnt the villians here.

The wording of their anti CV ads....all very disingenuous and double talk.

Insulting our intelligence I thought.

Still, happy to be watching the WS tonight.

Good news. Anything that lowers James Dolan's bank account is a win in my books.

If this team were really the Same Old Jets, a deal would not have been struck.

At first glance, I would agree, but I'm pretty sure that they wont lose one thin dime. I will lose a lot of dimes.

And they will smugly blame Fox.

Heck, if it came out that Fox and Cable were in cahoots on this, I wouldnt be surprised.

Dick.

I actually did the switch to Dish back when Cable refused to carry the Yes Network.

Had to be 7-8 years ago, no?

Then, after the fifth time I lost signal when it was cloudy...and Cable picked up Yes... I switched back.

Switching sucked.

Just a pain in the arse.

And I havent been convinced FIOS is an upgrade.

Fox is the villain here but Cablevision feigning concern for their customers made me physically ill. Cablevision does the same thing to other companies when they are the content provider. They are so insecure that they don't even offer MSG Network to Dish Network nor do they offer any of the NY Sports programming they own in HD to Fios. Whether they thought $150 million was too much for Fox programming was irrelevant. Fox could have asked for $500 million and Cablevision wouldn't have cared because whatever the cost for the Fox programming they would have passed that buck onto its subscribers. What I do see that is troubling is it seems every year we go through another programming dispute of one kind or another. I'm not a big government intervention guy but I think in the case of broadcast rights and fees at the expense of losing valuable programming the FCC should be more proactive in avoiding these disputes.

Or, how about a defined reimbursement for services paid for and not provided?

Cable offered me 10 bucks to watch the WS through MLB...but what about the rest of the programming my wife missed? We paid for that. We paid for every second of programming on 9 and 5 for the length of this dispute.

So agreed, bring on the Feds. No one else is looking out for us.

I want to switch to sattelite, but am terrified of getting crappy reception.

I'm tempted by Fios... NFL Network and Redzone channel? Yes please.

you lost the signal when it was cloudy??? wtf???

go buy the real equipment rather than pay miguel $5 a day to hold a tin foil dish out in the road for you- that should solve the issue...

I had it professionally installed by a mulleted white dude who hammered the dish into my roof. He had a uniform and a compass.
