Mangini "Rex Is Fatter Than A Float In The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade"

Mangini fires back, making comments about Rex Ryan's weight
By ANTHONY SULLA-HEFFINGER
Last Updated: 3:28 PM, November 11, 2010

A day after Rex Ryan jokingly acted like his brother wanted to put a bounty on him, Eric Mangini joined the "hit" parade.

In response to Ryan’s comments regarding his own recent weight loss, the former Jets coach backhandedly complimented his successor on his weight battle.

"I think everyone in New York is happy about that," Mangini said, "except maybe Macy's losing one of their floats."

Mangini may have lost some weight but he's not exactly going to earn the nickname "Slim" anytime soon.

I dont' think so. I'm sure Rex knows he's joking around and I'm sure Rex can take it as well as he receives.

Rex has known Mangini for years when his brother Rob was on the Pats staff.. It's nice to see Mangini has a sense of humor like Rex and Rob do..

Mangini really is turning a new leaf out in Cleveland. Two years ago he wouldn't dare say anything like that, or anything close to like that.

C'mon guys! Don't you know your head coach well enough to know he drew "First Blood" by taking a fun jab at Mangini first. Read it for yourself from yesterday's presser:

On Eric Mangini…
Mangini is so small right now. There would have been a bounty placed on him, but I don’t think anybody can hit him, he’s so small. You can’t find the little guy out there. He’s lost more than I have and I’ve had surgery (laughter). I’ve only lost 75 (pounds). I don’t know what Mangini’s lost, but I’m thinking about bringing some sand with me (and) throwing it at him.

You have to understand where Rex is coming from and I totally get his sincere yet sarcastic sense of humor. With his every joke therein lies a nice slice of truth. And I'm lovin every minute of it.

LMAO That was a good one.

I always like Mangini, and I give him credit for growing as a coach and taking in everything he can get from his mentors. He is definatley a better coach today than he was when he was hired by the Jets.

Mangini was pretty funny here, at times. It was overshadowed by his occasional surliness, but he'd dead pan a line every once in a while.
