Gotta agree with Warfish, the November Rain solo is great.
But, the best solo for me comes on Dark Side of the Moon from Mr David Gilmore on Time. Gives me goosebumps every f'n time. Love that ****. Last edited by southside; 12-01-2010 at 11:40 PM. |
He damn sure does, I remember seeing this live and thinking, "I always knew Prince was a bad ass on guitar but DAYUM!" And all that on a Tele? I'm sure he's got that thing modded to the gills but WTF, Tele typically have that thinner tone to them...that tone sounds so fat.
EDIT: In looking up Prince's set up, I stumbled upon this guy's website: http://www.texasguitarwhiz.com/ Funny cuz he's the guy that gave my buddy Mayer's old guitar strings after he re-strung an acoustic at a special Christmas-time '05 show we saw at Eddie's Attic in Decatur, GA.
I dont usually watch those TV shows, but I was always a big Harrison fan so I watched that since I always enjoy hearing his buddies cover his stuff and was just blown away by it. Prince had that guitar on fire there. All his over the top antics really overshadowed a tremendous career. The dude can flat out play, but nobody ever thinks about him for that. |

Any pro musician, playing every day, can roll like that. Especially the super-gifted like Prince. We can dream, eh? :) |

Hey your sig link is busted. I think you need to add "hp" and you're good to go. Thanks for the video; whover is playing Harrison's part nailed it wonderfully |

When he sticks to strictly playing guitar, I think he is in a select group of guitarists/musicians who just plain slay. |

Been delving back into the Allman Bros recently and I forgot how great the guitar licks are in Elizabeth Reed. Was listening on the way to work this am and when Duane starts to kick in (about 5:20 on this version but this isn't the same version as on their boxed set--which I like better) I hit 109 mph on the Merritt in the roadster--which was really stupid. :O
Love this whole song. |

Mick Taylor's live solo on Love In Vain from 1972 is simply brilliant. (first solo starts about the 3 minute mark and the second starts about thew 5:20 mark)

It's not. There's plenty of rock in here, but some of the best solo's are blues and jazz. I'm sure there are some great flamenco guitar solos too, but only Poli listens to that stuff. _ |
