Of course Ocenia never got it. Aussies could jump back in. Initial reports say they were the first eliminated so that could discourage them. |

Under Obama the US has lost bids for the Summer Olympics and the World Cup.
Coincidence? j/k... maybe |

Didn't think USA would get it, but I'm shocked by the Qatar decision.
I agree with everything said by Bay Ridge, as well. |

I've actually been to Qatar. I was on a 4 day R&R break there during a deployment to Iraq. Doha is actually a very beautiful, modern and advanced city that rivals Dubai. It actually looks like a city from the future like in the movies - and they are extremely wealthy (they bought the votes). I don't know the official state law but people are allowed to drink there. Servicemembers were allowed to drink 3 beers a day on post and alcohol was sold at bars in the civilian hotels and restaurants off-post though we weren't allowed to touch any of that stuff. As for the whole volatile region thing - what are they supposed to do? Never have an Olympics or World Cup ever in the middle east? What kind of message is that supposed to send especially when considering that the government of Qatar has actually been an ally of ours? Last edited by TerminatorJet; 12-02-2010 at 02:52 PM. |

+1 you can also thank the dolans for never getting the olympics or the west side stadium for the jets....sepp blatter is going to go down as one of the most corrupt men in sports...those petrodollars from Qatar must have had to convince him to put the world cup there because a u.s. world cup would have been the largest (money wise and attendance wise) and it would set attendance records just like the '94 one here.....blatter and even jacques rogge (who made obama look like an a**hole by having him go all the way to copenhagen just to get embarrassed in front of the world by the IOC) are corrupt and it seems to me like they're anti american...i may be going out on a limb but im just saying here....
