Jets' Ellis sued for attacking Seattle fan with snowball: report
POST WIRE SERVICES Last Updated: 1:03 PM, December 20, 2010 Posted: 10:40 AM, December 20, 2010 Comments: 24 Talk about getting sued over getting a chilly reception. Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis has reportedly been sued by a Seattle Seahawks fan who claims he suffered physical and emotional pain after he was pelted with a snowball. The snowball fight occurred in 2008 after the Jets lost on the road to the Seahawks 13-3 and eliminated from the playoffs. According to the lawsuit, the burly Ellis, 33, was bitter about the defeat and as he strolled off the field, he "stopped, picked up a large block or chunk or packed snow ... and threw it into the crowd" striking a man named Robert Larsen, TMZ.com reported. A video featuring Ellis tossing the gigantic snowball was captured on video by fans and posted to YouTube. In the video, Seattle fans are the one tossing snowballs at Jets players as they walk into the tunnel, and that's when Ellis fires one back at the fan. "Shaun Ellis was fined $10,000 for tossing a large snow clump in the direction of fans. Players are notified prior to each season that any contact with fans that potentially presents crowd-control issues and risk of injury is prohibited," an NFL spokesman said at the time. In the lawsuit, Larsen, a Seahawks season-ticket holder, also claims he had been waving a pro-Seahawks sign, which made him a target of Ellis' postgame ire. Larsen does not specify in the lawsuit how much money he is seeking in damages. Larsen claims Ellis, who was a rookie in 2008, subsequently said the snowball toss was "all in fun." But TMZ reported that Larsen claims he suffered physical injury, humiliation, mental distress, pain and wage loss. He is clearly injured and probably can't work for the rest of his life! Poor guy  |

Wow it really does seem like his rookie year was just yesterday... More outstanding journalism from that trash pile of an organization. |

More non-news.
Will say though, I loved it when I first saw it, and loved Faneca's exit. Arms out-stretched, "come and get me." Hilarious. |

Two things to say here:
1) All of the Jets should sue the Seahawks franchise for permitting their fans to throw snowballs at all the Jets players. (only because of the other lawsuit) 2) This is nothing. Everybody recalls the infamous Giants game (on a Saturday) where the Giants fans threw snowballs at the opposing team. Well, knowing us Jets fans, they tried all night to clear the snow out to make sure it wasn't there for the Jets fans the next day on Sunday. Only (a) they couldn't clear it all out and (b) the Jets fans brought snow in their backpacks and coolers into the stadium. The Jets played like utter sh*t that day and all the Jets fans starting pelting the Jets with snowballs. That's worse than Seahawks fans doing it. LOL. |
Wow, it would set a very bad precidence if they pay this guy off, especially if it's the same guy holding the snow clump up like a trophy in the video. He doesn't look like he's in pain and/or suffering then.

I seriously hope Shaun calls Larsson's and his lawyer's bluff and TAKES THEM TO TRIAL just so this video will be shown and the Judge sees Larsson acting like he won the lottery instead of the "pain and suffering and humiliation" that he *allegedly* had.
I bet you if Shaun says "Okay! Let's take this sh-t to trial", Larsson's lawyer would drop the case immediately. EDIT : You know.....Larsson is doing more to Humilate himself in that video than Shaun *allegedly* did. :D Last edited by Vin; 12-20-2010 at 05:08 PM. |

What a jerk off.
If I'm Ellis, I take this jerk to trial and make him blow as much money on a lawyer as possible, knowing in the end he will be lucky to break even if he wins the law suit. |

No brainer. Guy is a turd but he's going to get paid. :steamin:
This right here. The guy does have a case of liability. He can clearly prove a civil battery case. His ultimate problem will be proving damages. Chances are a lawyer took the case hoping to get a quick settlement out of the matter b/c it will cost Ellis probably close to $50K just to take this through trial. |
