On second thought, you are 100% correct. A player can openly call out another player as an a-hole without recourse. A newspaper has higher standards and cannot.:yes:

the post picture was made possible by Welker's comments with out it the post would have done something else, it is much akin Mangold's tweet.

Jay Glazer just showed tape of the Pats doing this, and said the Jets found it out from a (unnamed) player signed from the Pats PS.
