Can they do that? I thought you couldn't hold up a promotion for someone? Perhaps they are planning a shakeup here?

Don't they want Brian Schitthead? I mean, for DC, he couldn't do any worse.

Seeing how the Jets play Oakland next season (if there IS a season), methinks the Crypt Keeper would want DT for some info on the Jets.

The NFL considers all other assistants, coordinators included, on the same level.

Here is an update from Glazer:

No word yet on the Jets' reasoning for denying Thurman a shot at a promotion. The Raiders have reportedly already interviewed former Oakland DC Chuck Bresnahan. Jags DL coach Joe Cullen has been mentioned as a candidate, but he's yet to meet with the Raiders.

Something is UP. Perhaps some sort of shakeup.

Maybe Schotty's days in NY really *are* numbered. I can only hope.

This makes perfect sense. Because our defensive backs coach is not granted an interview with the Raiders, our offensive coordinator's job is now in jeopardy. Dennis Thurman for OC!!!!!!!

I think this is a friendly Fuk you from New York in response to the Raiders taking DMC and sticking us with Gholston.

It could also be a case where the Jets asked Thurman if he wanted to interview for the job and he decided he had no interest in working for Crazy Al so the Jets just said no to the request.

There's NO reason to delay the process. Start Geno Smith.

That. Is. Awesome.

For whatever reason though I feel as if the Jets asked Thurman if he would be interested in the Raiders job and because he knew he would have to work for Crazy Al Davis he turned it down. Thurman's thought process was probably that he would be fired after 2011 even if the Raiders posted a top five defensive unit, and most likely, Thurman would be right.

Good move for Thurman.

And seriously, may as well not bother with the fire Schotty stuff. Rex left no doubt that he's coming back. Sometimes coaches will say one thing and not necessarily mean it, but Rex definitely meant it.
