Republican Presidential debate at Reagan Library pushed back

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/onpolitics/post/2011/03/gop-presidential-debate-reagan-/1?csp=34news&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TP-OnPolitics+%28News+-+On+Politics%29
Since the GOP presidential field is largely unsettled, the first debate of the 2012 election cycle has been pushed back until this fall.

The event at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation will be held Sept. 14, instead of May 2, to give candidates time to formalize their campaign plans.

It was announced in January that former first lady Nancy Reagan would welcome the GOP contenders to the Reagan Library for the first face-off.

"Although there will be a long and impressive list of Republican candidates who eventually take the field, too few have made the commitment thus far for a debate to be worthwhile in early May," John Heubusch, executive director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation, said in a news release.

Ex-Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty is the only major GOP presidential hopeful to have filed the paperwork for an exploratory committee.

There are indications that the GOP field could take shape in the next few months. Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, former House speaker Newt Gingrich and Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota are among those saying the spring or early summer are on their timetable for a decision.

Politico editor in chief John Harris and NBC News anchor Brian Williams will be co-moderators of the debate at the Reagan Library. A reporter from Telemundo will take part in the questioning.

A GOP debate in South Carolina hosted by Fox News is still scheduled for May 5. The Reagan Library will also host a debate before the Super Tuesday primaries in 2012.
The best political drinking game returns!

How to play: Each person gets a randomly assigned republican candidate and must down a shot whenever their candidate utters 'Ronald Reagan' in an answer or statement. Of course historical accuracy need not matter ;)

Pushed back? Why would they push it back? They should be able to run anyone vs. Obama, right guys? If he is the worst President of all-time, why can't the GOP throw anyone up there? Hmmmm?
We know the Republicans don't have a solid candidate at the moment. What's your excuse for defending the guy who outright lied to the American public in two national addresses regarding going to war in Libya?

It's pretty sad that the Republican Party lacks any good leadership, it's even sadder that the Democratic party has become the party of war and lies about war while in power. The biggest supporters of Obama's war machine right now is the Neocon right and the apologist Left.
I agree both parties suck and are pretty much the same. I have been told time and time again how Obama is the worst and will get crushed in 2012, I am just wondering by whom?

I agree with the no-fly zone, but I will be pissed if any troops hit the ground. Finish Iraq and close Gitmo.
