Obama Disappointed With Lack of 'Cool' Phone in Oval Office
Published April 15, 2011 Associated Press WASHINGTON -- Turns out President Obama would like a phone upgrade. The president, in an unscripted moment with donors in Chicago, was talking about the need to innovate in technology. "The Oval Office, I always thought I was going to have really cool phones and stuff," he said during a small fundraising event at a Chicago restaurant. "I'm like, c'mon guys, I'm the president of the United States. Where's the fancy buttons and stuff and the big screen comes up? It doesn't happen." The president made his off-the-cuff remarks with donors as he took questions and after reporters had been ushered out of the event. But the question and answer session was piped back to Washington by mistake and into the press briefing area where a few reporters were still working late.
I read that when he met Leonard Nimoy, Obama gave him the Vulcan salute. Yeah, I didn't even do that at a convention. Stay dignified, Dumbama! |

Yeah, sounds like he's really up to the task of being President of the United States.
Obama laments: 'I miss being anonymous' The president says he longs for the days when he could go out in public unnoticed and chalks his frequent golf games up to a desire to break out of the White House 'bubble.' April 11, 2011|By Michael A. Memoli, Washington Bureau President Obama longs for the days when he could sneak out to the grocery store unnoticed, and chalks his frequent golf games up to his yearning to break outside the White House "bubble." "I just miss — I miss being anonymous," Obama said in a conversation with Hearst magazine executives at the White House last week, according to the Houston Chronicle. "I miss Saturday morning, rolling out of bed, not shaving, getting into my car with my girls, driving to the supermarket, squeezing the fruit, getting my car washed, taking walks." "I can't take a walk," he said. Since his swearing-in, Obama has regularly and publicly lamented the constraints of his office, and made some effort to break out from the insular presidency. To stay in touch with friends outside the Beltway (but also close aides), he keeps a BlackBerry on his hip. He also often refers to the 10 letters he reads each day from ordinary Americans to get unvarnished thoughts about the issues they face. One of those letters was sent by Shalini Schane of Longmont, Colo., who wrote Obama expressing her concern that a government shutdown could threaten her son's planned trip to the nation's capital. The president surprised Schane's son's class at the White House on Monday, after referring to her letter in his speech late Friday after a deal was reached. And then there is the golf course. In the Hearst session, Obama linked his oft-criticized fondness for golf with that same desire for some free time. "It's the only excuse I have to get outside for four hours at a stretch," he said. Obama shot 18 holes just this last Sunday, the second full day after he was involved in intense negotiations over the federal budget for fiscal year 2011. It was his 63rd golf outing as president, according to records maintained by CBS News' Mark Knoller, and his 25th at Joint Base Andrews. Obama offered another activity he might prefer. "I just want to go through Central Park [in New York] and watch folks passing by," he said. "Spend the whole day watching people. I miss that."
|

the genius of W is that he kept expectations so low, that when he appeared in public and didn't make a fool of himself, it was a big win.
Obama promotes himself as the thinking man's politician. Which means anytime he makes a joke or does anything that's less than perfect, he gets skewered. It's two different styles... |

I do not support Obama.
But I see nothing in this thread to care about. So what if he thought he'd have a "cool phone". I would to, and I'd bet so would all of you. It's actually shocking he doesn't have some kick-ass high-tech ultra-phone tbh. Stop wasting time with fluff, it takes away from when you have legitimate issues to fight him about. |

So you are saying that one shouldn't expect one of the most important positions in the world to have the best technology available?

Cambridge police (Showed who the real racist was) and the most damning his record the two plus years he been in office.(pretty bad when you made Jimmy Carter look good ) Like the Donald says on his tv show Your fired Obama. Btw- The more Obama Energy guy prediction comes true. The more likely Obama a one term president. As director of the Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory, Steven Chu, Obama’s secretary at the Department of Energy, said in an interview that gas taxes should slowly be increased over the next 15 years in order to force people to turn to alternative energy sources. “Somehow, we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to levels in Europe,” said Chu. In Europe, the price for a gallon of gas consistently hovers around $10 a gallon. Last edited by Raider9175; 04-15-2011 at 10:58 PM. |

Quoting Trump! Wow, the GOP isn't desperate? I hope they find a candidate that will at least make the next election exciting. McCain could of won if he selected Mitt, but he caved to the rightwing with Palin. How can anyone say Obama is a leftwinger if he pisses the leftwingers off as often as he pisses off the rightwingers? Obama needs to step up and lead or he will make this next election harder than it should be for him to win. |

Obama needs to step up and lead or he will make this next election harder than it should be for him to win.
First off just because the Man is a flat out liar - how can anyone really trust the man. Obama might be the worst president ever but hes still not an idiot. He knows he can't win without the Independents vote. ( his numbers are really bad in that group and he has no chance if those numbers don't change drastic. So whats does obama do , he lies and says things that appeal to that group. (he purely in election mode) . He knows the nuts on the left are always going to support him, over the alternate option. He will say anything to get a second term. God forbid anyone if he ever wins a second term( this country will never recover) Now if the american people were alot smarter(understood the issues) and just went off of Obama record his time in the whitehouse. There is no chance in hell this guy should have any chance at a second term. But there are alot of deadbeats in this country who don't want to do anything ,and want to live off someone else back. ( the problem is these are more deadbeats than hard working people in this country- America future looks bleak if this poor work ethic dosen't change. Like John Kennedy Said Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. Does that sound like todays democrats?????? Hey Media- Lets try something new. Lets judge the guy on his merits and not because you want to make news. Is Mark Rubio going to get the same kid glove treatment or free pass that Obama seemed to get his term in office.
