CHART: Big Corporate Jobs 1964 Vs. 2011

We're less a manpower driven economy, and more a intellectual product society today.

For example, I could post two similar charts, Railroad Jobs in 1950 and Railroad Jobs today. Back then, you needed like 6 guys to run a freight train. Today, it can be safely done by 2.

Been alot of that kind of change, both in making stuff, and broader, in how we make money today. Financial/tech stuff tends to take much fewer employees than oldschool manufacturing lines. Notice the types of businesses ont he two charts.

And your solution is?

For example, we could put in a few Federal restrictions on outsourcing, make them make the suff here, right? Of course, along with that, the cost of what they make will rise tenfold, as the workers go from Indian wages to Upper-Middle-Class Manufacturing wages.

Cost/Benefit, like everything else.

((Also fail chart reading on my part, I'm not seeing any reference to outsourceing on these charts...:huh:...)

They outsource to smaller American companies which wouldn't reflect under 'employment'.

Those companies didn't exist in 1964.

The Jets didn't do their research and misjudged the market. Not the market's fault. PSLs aren't a tangible product either, so that comparison is a major fail.

Just because you can't afford them, doesn't mean they don't exist. There's plenty of quality furniture, you're just not seeing it on your fancy trips to the Ikea cafeteria.

You also don't take into account the fact that much of the income of todays companies are earned on foreign soil where they have workers.
