Queensland Reds of Australia win Super Rugby ahead of 2011 Rugby World Cup

My fave team the Queensland Reds of Australia beat the Canterbury Crusaders of New Zealand in the Super 15 Rugby Finals last weekend. It was a tough and dramatic game. Looking forward to the Rugby World Cup in September/October.

Rugby has shrunk in importance out here - used to be able to see a lot of games on free-to-air but its now almost exclusively on foxtel. Was never a huge fan of it but remember following Campese etc back in the day. It's also lost a lot of traction at youth level for obvious reasons, so they don't have the talent coming through by and large. Saw the highlights of the game, but not much else.

The State of O was last week and that is still biggish here, though the domestic comp is just second rate compared to the AFL - the two rugbys will be doing it very tough in about 15 years time in Australia. "Soccer" gets a lot more juniors through than both rugbys.

BTW - Fijian Nic Natanui is carving it up for West Coast in the AFL - phenomenally talented prospect - they call him the flying mop. Can't work out the reason why? (!)

Thanks for that man! Yeah the State of Orirign was brutal for the Blues with the Maroons domination and a fitting send off for Lockyer.

Yeah Campo was the man back in the day and the Wallabies are looking good to take out the World Cup again this year.

Its surprising that while Nic Naitanui and David Rodan doing so well for themselves in AFL hardly anyone in Fiji follows the sport. Its mostly just union and league.

Thanks mate Go the Green and GOld!!
